How to make an article directory website?

Hi, I want to make an article directory website. I am thinking to make so with wordpress. This is first time to make directory and I don't have any great knowledge. Please give me any advice and tell me about any free theme or software.

    With wordpress you can use Formidable Pro to create an article directory. I use it to accept article submissions and really like it.

    I used to have an article directory, which ran on Article Friendly, but to be honest, I found that for me personally, it wasn't worth the trouble.

    Joomla has a powerful components like sobi (free but the design need modification).

    They got more powerful directories components but I think you will have to pay for something outstanding.
