Hello everybody,
i have a question, i am doing some article marketing for my website and i'm submitting articles to different directories, ezinearticles is one of them and i would like to know from your experience,
can i submit the same article to all directories?

from experience i know that some directories didn't mind it and they published my article even though i submitted it to a few directories, my concern in ezine!, would ezine publish article i submitted to other directories?

if anyone can advice,

Yes, you can submit the same article to multiple directories, including Ezinearticles. People do this all the time.

Many thanks for the wordpress link. Pretty much puts the nail in the coffin of the "Post on Ezine first" myth.

If you are concerned then just submit it to Ezinearticles and wait for approval before a mass submission.

This is false. Before submitting anywhere else put them on your own blog or website.

Also not true because Ezinearticles accepts articles already on other sites all the time.

If you want some good advice you should expand your submitting and learn how to use article syndication. Here are some threads to read about it:

This used to be very very very very true, but it is becoming less and less true. You will actually have better results if you try to get your article in front of those that publish ezines and newsletters. Also, try to use guest blogging to get your article out there.

You don't have to wait until they approve it. In fact you can submit it to other directories before submitting it to EZA.

Duplicate content is when the same content is on a site more than once. One of the following is more likely why you would get suspended.

They suspended me when I used a penname on there but one of the other directories didn't have a penname facility so I used my normal account with my own name on that directory and it published the article before EZA. Same picture, same author bio, just different name. Had to change the penname to my own before I got unsuspended.

A couple of occasions my articles were republished from another directory without my details so again my authorship was called into question. Then silly me, I submitted to my own directory using my admin account instead of my author account and even though I noticed shortly afterwards it got indexed under the admin account and that's what they saw for a while.

I always publish to my own sites first and make sure that they are indexed before submitting anywhere else. That gives me some proof of authorship plus the greater advantage of the articles. Before I used to submit to a handful of directories at the same time, most of which were quicker to publish than EZA, but rather than get the hassle I submit to EZA after my sites and nowhere else until they have been accepted, then I use other directories.

Can't blame EZA, there are a lot of scum out there who try to use plagiarised articles for their own ends. It's good that there are some directory owners out there who do check despite the masses of time taken.

So yes you can republish on other directories except for a handful that expect exclusivity.

Yes, they will, as long as it complies with their editorial guidelines. This isn't a problem at all and the people telling you it may be have all misunderstood. Honestly.

Unfortunately, every time someone asks this simple question, they seem to be misinformed by several people, all of them doubtless well-intentioned but actually having misunderstood the issues involved.

With respect, this is incorrect advice, Sheila. There's absolutely no need to do this, and nothing at all to gain by doing so. (EZA is actually the last place I've submitted all my own articles over the last 3 years.)

Originally Posted by andynathan View Post

This is also incorrect advice. There's nothing to "be careful" of, here: EZA has never required unique content. They don't care whether your article is in 1 other article directory or in 100 of them. Why should they? They have clarified this, yet again, quite recently, on their own blog.

Originally Posted by andynathan View Post

We're not talking about "duplicate content" here, though. We're talking about multiple copies of the same article in different directories. That is NOT "duplicate content". It's syndicated content.

EZA has suspended you in the past not because your submission wasn't unique but because it wasn't original, and you're confused about the difference between "unique content" and "original content", Andy.

Clearly they won't allow duplicate content (multiple copies of exactly the same information) on their website, just as you and I won't allow it on yours or mine - that's truly a "duplicate content" issue and is why you got into trouble. What they didn't want was an article of which there was already a copy (of some or all of the information/sentences) in their directory (duplicate content). They don't care about it being in other people's directories, though (syndicated content). Do you see the difference? One relates to "uniqueness" and the other relates to "originality".

If anyone would like a simple, clearcut, brief explanation of the difference between duplicate content and syndicated content, there's one right here ...

Article Marketers - Lay the Duplicate Content Myth To Rest Once and For All | Internet Marketing and Publishing

And if anyone would like clarification about EZA accepting copies of articles which are already in other article directories (under the same author name), it's explained in some detail here ...

This subject is hugely misunderstood, in spite of about 100 threads here accurately setting out the realities and defining the terms clearly. Respectfully, Kathy, however many people "agree with Sheila", it doesn't make the information correct, nor does it make the advice valid or helpful to others, I'm afraid: advice based on misinformation helps nobody.

I agree with Sheila. Submit to Ezine first. My recommendation is to not submit to more than 2 article directories, and only submit original content of course.

      Hi,

I've written quite a few articles now, which I've used for my website and multiple article directories. Each time I've submitted one, I've spun the article (not using software, I just changed parts of the content myself), and I haven't received any complaints / bans.

I would suggest that you do this if you're having problems. I'm changing around 40% of my words (mainly just exchanging synonyms), the article title and the article structure.

      Hope this helps

Ezine don't like it. If you want your articles to stay I would just take a little time to adapt the original text you have already written making it stand on it own but not rewriting the whole thing. It doesn't take too long and will insure your Ezine articles remain. I still get quite a steady stream of traffic off of my ezine articles. I wrote most of these a year ago too. I get nothing from any of the other article places. They were orginal articles too..

This is misguided advice. It's entirely unnecessary to do that.

Like countless other article marketers here, I have nearly 1,600 articles in EZA, all of which are identical versions to those initially published and indexed on my own site, and to various other copies already published elsewhere before EZA submission.

With respect, it would really help those asking for advice about this (such as the OP, in this thread) if people would simply READ some of the links and references above rather than just repeating all this inaccurate and misleading advice based entirely on misunderstandings.

Originally Posted by ionicallyenough View Post

This simply isn't so: it will have absolutely nothing at all to do with their chances of "remaining".

These questions are not about "consensuses of opinion".

      These are factual matters.

The correct answers are all public information (on EZA's blog, and in other places). It's all readily accessible - from authoritative sources who make up the rules - by anyone willing to step out of their comfort-zone for a minute and learn something.

"Duplicate" and "syndicated" are two different terms with two different meanings.

"Original" and "unique" are two different terms with two different meanings.

Google understands them. Ezine Articles understands them. Those of us here making our livings successfully from article marketing understand them. And here's the thing: they're actually not difficult to understand. All that's required is a willingness to read a little and learn something rather than continually repeating misinformation. :p

Please excuse me if I appear to be wording it in a "heavy-handed" way. I'm fully aware that nobody here is intentionally trying to mislead anyone else. They are, nevertheless, making it extremely difficult, by repeating these "urban myths of internet marketing", for the forum to fulfil a purpose useful to those seeking information here. And that's actually putting it very tactfully and very mildly.

If you really want to know why not check out what EZA themselves have to say? They have recently revamped and calrifieed thier author guidelines, they can be found here:

    EzineArticles.com - All Editorial Guidelines

They have a blog post about it here:

Editorial Guidelines Revamped For Your Success!

One of the tings they have to say about original content is this:

All content that is published on EzineArticles must be 100% exclusively owned by you. The content that is submitted CAN be published elsewhere, but must share the same author name everywhere it is published. If you published your article elsewhere and did not include your name, we will not publish your article on our platform. It is important that you own your content no matter where you publish it.
People often complain that they have been rejected for "duplicate content" when what they mean is that they fell foul of the rule above.

    Hope this helps.

As always ^ ^ to everything Alexa and Benjamin have already said. Alexa - I envy and admire your seemingly unending patience..

Regarding the "Duplicate Content" issue - EZine Articles has now restored their Wordpress plugin which enables writers In their exact words to...

"Save Time. When you write a post on your WordPress blog, you will now be able to submit it to EzineArticles directly from your blog."

Here is a link to that plugin download page on the EZA site: http://members.ezinearticles.com/tools/wordpress/

Read it! Does that really sound as if they are condemning sharing your content with them?

One thing this suggests that I hadn't thought of is that if you use more than one pen name, make sure you use the same name when submitting the same article to different directories. Otherwise it might get rejected, as it won't be clear that the same person wrote it.

There are still people who believe this, I know ... it's completely wrong.

As mentioned above, all 1,600 of my articles in EZA had originally been published elsewhere, in identical form, and many of them in multiple places.

With so many arguments here, I think the best thing for

That is so interesting!!! I know I have been told before not to do this by an "expert" but lately i heard different things about it, and i know someone that do this and he said that its OK as long as the article is original and you own the content. mine is both so yes i am trying it for a few days now, and I'm waiting for ezine's approval.
Thank you Alexa and Benjamin for all the info, it is clear now and it makes a lot of sense.
