If you are not teachable then you will fail in every area of life...especially in business
Being a teacher is not a profession. It is a way of life. To someone who is not a teacher, helping another learn something new is grueling work.
But to the teacher....ahh if only a student were around!
A teacher will teach other people about anything. We will seek out opportunities to help other people understand. We have the excitement that comes from our little secret.....
To teach is to learn twice. ~Joseph Joubert, Pensées, 1842 |
In my life I have been fortunate to have many teachers on many things.
My father taught me to do what is right and how to be patient.
My other teachers have taught me kung fu, tai chi, salesmanship, marketing, leadership, integrity, the value of hard work, and the list goes on and on.
At this forum I have seen many good teachers and I have learned from them all as much as I can.
There is an old proverb, taught to me by my kung-fu sifu (teacher),
"When the student is ready, the teacher will come."
And conversely:
"When the teacher is ready, the student will come."
Everyone here has had teachers. Specifically, everyone making a living doing IM has been taught how by others. No man is an island. At some point, you relied on the teachings of others to get you where you are. The success you enjoy was earned by applying the foundational truths given to you by others.
To the successful marketer, the teachers saved you years of time and trouble by imparting truth.
You are the person to whom I write this. This post is a statement of "readiness."
For I truly believe what my Sifu taught me: "When the student is ready, the teacher will come."
Many people come to this forum and want someone to hold their hand and give them the keys to the kingdom with no work or effort. I am not that person. I have been marketing and in business all my life.
If you are that teacher...ready for a willing student...here he is.
If you are that student...needing a teacher...get yourself ready first.
Look back over your life and take a moment to appreciate and see the value of what others have taught you. If you cannot think of any teachers you have had in life, I would say you are unteachable and you should cease all else and become teachable. There is no greater flaw than this.
Are YOU teachable? Are you REALLY READY to learn the things you think someone should be teaching you? Being unteachable means you will miss opportunity after opportunity to reach success.
To everyone who has taught me things in life...my gratitude.
To my teachers who are yet to come...my anticipation.
Regards,
Daniel
