New warrior, armed and ready.

Hello everyone,

my name is Dennis and I've been lurking here on and off for the past few months ever since I learned about IM. When I first read about IM I was a bit sceptical. All the promises of overnight riches just one colourful eBook away sounded like a scam. With a bit of research I (luckily ) found the warrior forum. And I quickly learned there is money to be made in IM if you just look though all the hype, and don't spend all your time and money on WSO's..

So I decided I want to give IM a serious try. And to educate myself some more I joined the war room. And holy !@#$ talk about information overload. Although I have an idea how I want to start up, and what my first goals are it's still a lot to take in. And with all these different techniques and strategies I find myself second-guessing.

My start-up plan is pretty basic still. I'd like to start off with affiliate marketing, either clickbank or Amazon products. So that means: find a niche that I can monetize, do keyword research, create a site, post articles offering value while being SEO, create quality backlinks, and start a list.
My first (short term) goal of course is to create my first site/blog that makes sales and gets decent traffic. My next goal would be to make about $25,- a day so I can quit washing dishes and spend that time focussing on IM and my education instead.

I have limited funds and time available seeing I just started with my bachelor's degree in IT. But I do want to treat this as a real business. So I'm not afraid to invest some money (just not in a big pile of eBooks :rolleyes.
I'm thinking of outsourcing some tasks from the get-go. Seems a bit pointless to spend hours on hours learning to do it myself only to outsource it once I start making some decent money. With the added risk of failing and giving up because I suck at only one thing in the whole process.
That said I'll probably outsource the writing and the link building. I'm not a great writer nor do I enjoy it, so it seems like a good choice. Especially because it doesn't seem that expensive to outsource. Link building on the other hand seems a bit more costly. All in all it doesn't matter much as long as I see some ROI. Thinking about a €70-100 ($100-140) budget for now. Now I just have to take action asap.. ohh boy :p...

I'm excited to start being a part of this community .
If anyone has any tips/pointers/questions or comments I'd love to hear from you!

Welcome. Good move on joining the War Room. Just don't fall into the trap of bouncing from one thing to the next. Find something that interests you and follow through to the end. A lot of newbies suffer from "information overload" when they get here and accomplish nothing because they are trying everything without really giving any one thing the full attention that it needs.

Great advice. Even experienced marketers can fall into this trap! (myself included)

Yeah... "information Overload" is the right term. When you have lots of information in front of you, it is hard to focus on just one thing.

Hi Dennis, welcome to the forum
Maybe you want to also study on programming and web dev... they might come in handy if you want to be even better at working online. I already finished studying but I wished I took up more computer subjects.

    Welcome to the Warrior Forum!

Definitely a smart choice joining the War Room, that will keep you busy for awhile and there's some great information in there.

It's good to see someone whose first post actually has a rational and practical approach. So long as you apply what you learn here, and avoid the 'information overload' often suffered by those buying too much stuff, you should do alright

    All the Best,

Whups, a bit late on the reply. Might not have been a great idea to post this just before a busy weekend. But thanks for the warm welcome and the advice !

"...find a niche that I can monetize, do keyword research, create a site, post articles offering value while being SEO, create quality backlinks, and start a list."

Fantastic plan, but flesh it out a little bit by considering more than just article marketing. Trying to stay in front of Google's spiders can be tricky for a newbie and frankly EVERYBODY is doing this. You would really have to find a niche within a niche to be successful with this plan.

Integrate mobile marketing into this plan and you will build your list much much faster. There are more cell phone users than people who have a personal computer and there are enough easy to use mobile optimization sites that you can utilize effectively.

It takes money to make money online so be ready to spend some of your profits to keep the train rolling. Amen!

Welcome to the forum! You are off to a great start realizing that there is no get rich scheme and joining the War Room.

It is also great that you are considering this and treating it like a real business, because that is what it is and that you know you have to take action. I would hold off buying anything else until you have a bit more knowledge and a plan.

There are lots and lots of ways to get started. One of the things you stated was Amazon.

One of my mantras is "sell what people are already buying". So I am always checking out the Amazon best sellers.

The key to me was then to find a niche I could "win" in. And that was through market research and keyword research. Don't worry, it isn't as difficult as it sounds.

Find some best sellers on Amazon, then use the free google keyword tool and try to find a niche that matches whatever best seller you are looking at.

You want good global monthly searches and low competition. If the niche you pick passes that, then I through up a page, build a list, promote that product and other related products in the followup emails and viola.

That is just one way, though. There are others. I just found that when I was starting out, it was too overwhelming to try so many different things, and I got the advice on this forum to just focus on one method. Now, I just do that.

    Anyway, good luck.

And, BTW, keep up getting your degree. :-)
