Google Buzz is going away...

Google Buzz is going away, but your posts are yours to keep
In a few weeks we'll be retiring Google Buzz. At that time you won't be able to create any new posts, but your existing content will remain accessible in two ways:

You can view it on your Google Profile
You can download it using Google Takeout

Thank you for using Google Buzz. :p:rolleyes:

Yep, my kids alerted me to that fact.

I have to get on the ball with migration, methinks.

    I did find:

Google Will Discontinue Google Buzz and Code Search

    More things to do.....

Probably because they want more people using the +1 platform. It's always better to have people tied up in one place than scattered all over, even when it comes from the same provider.

Just trying to get people to migrate over to Google+..

Have never been a fan of either Buzz or Google+, they've offered nothing of any significance to my sites in terms of traffic or promotion. But then again, different strokes for different folks. What works for you, doesn't necessarily work for me and vice versa.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I think eventually they'll end up retiring Google + as well. I mean aside from the initial boost it got, most people continue to favor Facebook.

I think they'll fight long and hard on this one.. since they keep looking stupid when it comes to social sites, but.. you're probably right. I've not seen any reason to keep using Google +. I rarely find myself going back and all my friends/family remain on facebook.

Maybe it's time to unthink the whole social networking situation. (actually, i think that will be a fail too).

Agree. Facebook is a tough competitor in that space and I don't see Google making headway. Thats' the problem for these corporate giants, they have lots of resources, but usually enter the niche late, and offer only a 'me to' product.

    I haven't really used Google+, but I don't think they'll give up that easily.

Google +1 has some use though, so I do see them continuing to expand that.

Can't believe they are getting rid of desktop though. I guess there wasn't that much in it for them.
