Time to scale up and do the same 10 X more. I have the impression that the most valuable Adwords ads appear in the first ad unit, as you ad more the average value may be diluted, though having more than one banner compatible size unit ups you chances of getting better paying banner clicks.

Great job!

Even though the figures aren't that much it really stands out to me to be just as successful as the people making their first 1000 in a month or even 10,000. Because the main point is that you MADE IT WORK!!

It's not about the figure, this can be scaled up now that you have a WORKING SYSTEM!! Good on ya!

Regarding the Adsense/Amazon sites, just be careful where you are displaying the ads because you can greatly affect conversion rates with little tweaks.

Also ensure the keywords you are targeting are either money keywords, or at least keywords that will attract visitors which can then be converted to buyers. The more specific the better!

Keep drilling on that keyword that is on page one! That sounds like the key to your best month, by ranking higher competition keywords you will automatically rank for many related long term keywords which should bring in lots more traffic.

This particular site is something I aim to be an authority type site. It targets a specific type of home appliance that ranges from just under $1k to somewhere around $5k in price.

Due to this high price and the fact that these items usually need installation I'm thinking that I won't get a ton of sales from Amazon, but the thought that even just one sale can earn a fairly hefty comission (depending on my tier level from my other sites) makes me excited about the potential.

Also, I'm trying to optimize for keyword combinations that look something like [brand name] + [main keyword]. If I can rank on page one for those as well I think my traffic can go way up and be that much more targeted.

This is an interesting idea. It's definitely something to think about. It seems like it could take some work to set up though. Or, more accurately, technical knowledge that I don't have and cant afford to outsource yet. For instance, I would probably need to be able to capture the location of the leads, then figure a way to sell the leads to service providers in the area.

Any idea of how this could be managed?

Enjoyed your story and your enthusiasm.

Some wannabe Internet Marketers will look at those numbers and say:

"What? Only $XXX!" and sadly their cup is half empty and will always be so...

You looked at your numbers and said: "Great my cup is half full!" And you are now on the great road to success....

Try to do a little bit more than you did the day before...

Add more sites and links...Don't totally rely on Adsense..

Just multiply what you are doing, and you cannot help but do well!

Well done, You haven't made much money but the lessons you're
learning on the way are invaluable so keep on pushing onwards and
upwards and see where it all takes you... Once you have a number
of these sites you will notice it takes some serious planning and
up keep...

Just remember not to put all your eggs in one basket as you
could have everything ripped away from under you in a moments
notice...

Don't rely too heavily on these income streams!!

Well done on a good month. It may still be small figures but if it's a good month then you can build on that and improve it.

If you are making this site into an authority site then I think you have the potential to consistently have good months with much bigger figures.

On another note, I have another site that recently shot way down in the rankings. I'm thinking of changing that site to have a static SEO optimized home page as well. I have a tendancy to spread myself thin between too many sites so I think that if I focus on just these two for now I can do pretty well.

Ray is exactly right, when you start making bigger numbers the enjoyment wears off and instead just becomes a more, more, more feeling, but for the starting point you should be very happy with what you accomplished especially considering most people tend to give up before they get to earning any commission at all.

Our first month I probably put in close to 100 hours and we made a GRAND total of $33.00 or so GROSS on EVERYTHING...it was pretty discouraging for me. We finally started turning it up and made right around 25K in September. Hang in there!

Well done and now it is time to ramp it up a few notches.

This might not be a huge figure but it shows the system works. That must give you confidence and in this business, confidence plays a big part.

So, you know this system works and you proved that by a result (however small it may be) but you now have to concentrate on multiplying your system.

Whilst you are doing that you could even try out other methods.

The important thing right now is that you have crossed over to the other side and proved to yourself that you can indeed earn money in the Internet Marketing world.

Find out what page convert best, improve your content and try to have better offers, with one good affiliate offer from that page you can make higher affiliate commission as for adsense you need to have more pages, more content and increase traffic.

If you get passed the first year in this business then, you're half way there in gaining a decent income working from home. You normally spend the first part of your IM journey spending time on finding what works and what doesn't and a few dollars along the way.

Yes, it doesn't sound like much, but it's my best month on Amazon yet. Mostly it comes from a few people who ordered multiple items from a few different sites I have.

Are you collecting the email details from your visitors?
If you really want to ramp up your $ amount, you should be
cross selling high converting (high commission) Clickbank products.

Also it won't hurt you to put a banner on your website for a related
info product.

You'll get much higher commission.

I have to say that after I added the second ad unit clicks have gone up. However, my bounce rate has also gone up a little as well. This could be a normal fluctuation or it could be the result of adding the ad unit.

Search google for topics like "buzz" "trending" or hashtags to find the hot topics people are talking about.

Search for articles, youtube videos, yahoo answers, etc related to the topics and do keyword research.

Create new wordpress blogs related to these topics and you can get a lot of traffic. This should help your adsense and amazon income.

It could be your ad unit although unless it takes up a significant portion of your screen, I can't imagine it affecting bounce rates too much.

Have you found your SERPs to stabilize for your sites? Google really shows love to sites with lots of content so don't be afraid to add some additional content if your site starts to Google Dance!

Awesome post and great additude. You got the system working now you just scale it up. So many people see stuff like this as a failure. They don't understand you start small. Get it to work and than scale it.

No company tests a product with a massive launch. You test it small, figure out what works and doesn't, and than scale it up to be large.

Yes, there is usually some Google dancing that takes place, although not that much since I usually don't do heavy backlinking.

In fact, building backlinks is one of my weak points. Sometimes I outsource this but I'm not making enough money yet to spend too much on this.

My strategy for scaling this particular site will be to add a new area to the site for informative articles. As of now, all of the content on the site is product reviews and an SEO optimized home page that directs visitors on where to go to find a specific product they may be looking for.

So, as I said I will start writing informative articles rather than just product reviews. These articles will go on my site and will also be distributed out to article directories for possible syndication.

In addition to that, I will put an opt in box on the site and will offer visitors a PLR report that is related to the niche. I will probably do this before I start writing the articles.

Definitely powerful stuff, buddy! I think you have on the right track to start cracking your first pay out from Amazon affiliate. The bad thing about Amazon affiliate is that they will pay you 2 months later. It sucks but we must accept it.

tis a good start...just keep doing more of what works, and less of what doesnt.

pretty simple really.

Most people think making money is hard and complex...but our biggest earners are simple....it almost requires you to be brain dead. In fact I will go and ask my wife If I am brain dead now, and I know what the resopnse will be.
