Amazon Site ID Registration, How many ID's?

I just have some quick questions regard Amazon Affiliate program, how it works.

Do you use the one ID for many sites?

Can I get several ID's or is it like Adsense only one per person?

When signing up, page one my personal details, now on page two, it is asking for my site URL, It says, "We will use this name to generate your unique Associates ID." I plan to sell this site in a month, would this be a problem?

It is after very detailed information about what my site is about. This is making me think you get register and get a new ID per site. Is this right?

Thanks for your patience.

Just wanted to remind you that the payout for general merchandise goes from 4% to 8.5% depending on monthly unit sales, using a single account on multiple sites will earn you a larger payout.

Just going from 6 sales a month to 31 a month increases payout from 4% to 6.5%

Don't worry about the associates ID. Once you get your associates ID, you will be able to create tracking ID which is basically the same thing.

You can create tracking IDs and put one tracking ID for every site you own.

If you want to do some testings, you can even create lots of tracking ID for every link in a site.

If you want to sell your site, the buyer will just have to replace your tracking ID with theirs.

I am trying to have sites not linked up, in case I am attacked or get smacked by Google.

Would different tracking ID's still be linked somehow?

    As apposed to different accounts.

Tracking IDs are not linked because Google doesn't own Amazon.

You can only have a maximum of 100 trackings IDs.

I didn't know about the 100 max. Thanks!

I currently have about 5-6 different Amazon.com affiliate IDs but mainly use only one these days.

I still get sales reports from all 5-6, however.

        TRacking IDs, I did find:

How to Get Multiple Amazon Associates Tracking IDs (channels)

        and what Amazon.com says:

        Hope that helps!

At one time, I believe it was 20 tracking ID's but when I looked recently they had increased it to 100 ID's per account. If you need more you can email them.

That said, at this time the ID's cannot be hidden so you will have to muddle thru a ton of ID's if you make to many.

It is a good idea to have a tracking ID for each site, NOT each item as one affiliate I saw was doing. That could get a little crazy fast. Don't forget just with your ID you can see what items people clicked thru.

If you have a lot of sites, one good idea is to use initials for a site. So that way if you sell the site, you can reuse those initials as the ID for another site and you can associate those initials with the new site instead of looking at the full out name.

Also be sure to include the country code on the end of your ID -20 for the US or you will not get credit for any sales.
