Buying sites from someone with a banned adsense account

I recently purchased some sites from a guy who had his adsense account banned.

Are the sites "marked" by adsense?

Or

Can I just put my codes in?

Also, Does it matter if the sites are still hosted by the seller ( reseller)

tx

If the user was banned, and not the particular site, then yes, the site can be sold and new adsense codes can be put on. If it were my site, I'd ask the Google-gods first. Do you have an adsense advisor? They'd be able to point you in the right direction, at least, and if Google decides to hate on you, you'd at least have evidence that you tried to do the right thing.

Personally I would get a return because he was banned from adsense because of the sites for some reason. So now you have the sites you run the same risk.

His user account was banned due to invalid clicks

It appears his account was banned not the sites.

I would not put my adsense on a site where an account had been used and banned. Period. I don't care what arguments are given or if the seller says risk is low - it's still a risk I wouldn't take.

I think keeping the same hosting adds more risk to the mix.

I agree with Kay. Unless you get clearance from google don't.

I would move the domain from that hosting and wait a while before adding code again. Not worth the risk.

I had a joint adsense account and sites with my ex business partner. He got the adsense account banned because of invalid clicks - he said that he had traded some design work for popunder ads.

After the partnership ended we split the sites amicably and after a few months I decided to try adsense again using my own account. First I asked for advice in the adsense forums and was pointed in the direction of an Adsense checker which tells you if a site is able to display adsense ads. I found that yes it was so it was just the account that had been disabled and the sites weren't banned.

I've had adsense back on the sites for over 2 years now and no problems except it doesn't pay enough

So if adsense displays on those sites you should be ok but check first.

I would be more worried about what else he might have done, where he got backlinks from for instance. I would move them to another hosting account.

I wouldn't recommend it, it would have me questioning their ethics and what type of SEO was used on the sites.

You don't have to worry that his account was banned (adsense will actually allow you to use your adsense account even if you don't own the website).

Here is what you must be careful with. Is the website still receive invalid clicks ? how legitimate is the traffic now?!

If the website is receiving only legitimate traffic you shouldn't worry after all Adsense ban users not websites.

It's not a wise idea because if he is banned it is because fraudulent clicks, which means his earnings aren't real.

I dont think it is a good idea to put your adsense advertisements there but still you can put there. So a better way to create another account and apply for that.

His adsense account is banned and not the site. I think it should be okay to put your own code. However, it may be wise to wait for sometime before you do that.

It should be OK. But it is better you should move them to another hosting account. Last month, I transferred some sites that were bought from godaddy.com to namecheap.com

    • There's a Fiverr seller who creates AdSense accounts for people who can't get them on their own. You could buy one of those, I suppose.

Some of those people tried to post here, too, and got kicked out.
What they don't tell you is those accounts are usually banned very quickly.

Really appreciate all this great advice as I was tempted today to buy some hot sites on flippa.com whose owner's account was banned by adsense

At the end of the day you know the risk, the risk is that they will ban your account too.. If you value your account, don´t risk it by doing this - Even legit people get their accounts banned too.

Seems G don´t need many reasons to ban accounts so the likely hood is that the sites are related to the banned account, in turn this means your account will then be under G scrutiny - They will likely think it could be the same guy with a new Adsense account, they will just ban it and thats it, they wont ask questions and give you any explanation space.

      Don´t do it.
