Ok, so I finally took my first step in regards to "getting something done" versus sitting on my hands and just reading. I know its not exactly what I need it to be and I "WILL" be going through each article and editing to my needs...but the point was to get something on the blog NOW versus later. So I grabbed some FREE PLR articles from this thread: 25 Free Fitness & Exercise Articles With PLR I took 20 minutes out of my day and went ahead and started the process of posting them, 10 articles. Though I do want to form them to fit my mold, the point was to GET them up there and tweak them later, versus tweak them up front and possibly never get it done (aka, distractions,etc...) The articles are currently word for word of the PLR's, though I customized the blog titles. I installed the All in One SEO Plugin and filled those parameters in. I set the appropriate categories for each one. I still need to add tags for each post. btw - I turned off the blog indexing for now until I get the content where it should be. But...with all that said...am I heading in the right direction? Lose Weight | Diet | Eat Healthy | Vitamins | Supplements | Healthy Tips I also want to stress I knocked out those 10 articles in 20 minutes as a baby step. The point I am making is that is ALOT of content in little time if you find the right content. Not necessary the best content, but some content is better then no content...right? Thanks, Bryan |

Thanks cam! The next step would be to tweak the articles, properly position some affiliate related links in with each post. Probably throw some well positioned Adsense ads in. I will probably attempt to dive in to the code and add some SEO enhancement if necessary. Then look at traffic driving techniques. I will continue posting content as needed, but focus attentions on traffic. am I missing anything completely obvious? |

You're right to get that content out there and now if you like, you can re-purpose the content in many ways to create a serious traffic machine such as... Are you going to ping every new blog post? - Seriously re-write (40%) the content and submit to the article directories - Submit it to all the high traffic web 2.0 sites that you can - videos - blog carnivals - ping everything with a rss feed - bookmark everything - Create a small blog farm Hope This Helps! if you really want to "get something done" i would write your own articles and spend more than 20 minutes doing it ![]() I also have a plugin I made that will take your importing of plr articles down to seconds... |

Great job - the first step is always the hardest. I would suggest you add more articles (preferably original ones) to your blog and use social bookmarking sites to get your site indexed. Then you can focus on building relationships with other bloggers in your niche, which can bring you targeted traffic.

I said I did the 20 minute thing to get the ball rolling, THEN I will go and tweak/change the content as needed to make it my own. If I worry about rewriting EACH article from scratch one at at a time...I will end up losing motivation, get distracted, or name a 100 other things to get in the way. I did this as a FIRST step, baby step, to get the ball rolling. As a web designer...I WILL be redesigning the theme lol...again...I spent 15 minutes installing the blog the other day, 10 minutes getting plugins installed, and 20 minutes getting 10 - 500 word articles up on the site.I would say that isn't too shabby for 55 minutes of work.

of course I read the posts, and the responses to my posts ![]() congrats on the first step, I reckon 20 minutes is better than 0 minutes. I just didn't consider 20 minutes of work much of a step, that's all, and offered a tool to turn that 20 minutes into less than 1 minute. Good luck to you.

@crunch...oh definitely. If the site was live and good to go...i wouldn't have done it this way..but the site is fresh, isn't indexable and the only public links for it reside in this forum...so I will go back and change things up.

Bryan, I can't say enough about original content. It's good to get off your hands but be sure when you put something out there it reflects the quality you want it to reflect. Shauna |

You may want to think about adding Squidoo, Blogger, and Hubpages, etc that all revolve around and link to your main site. When you submit the different (original) articles to the different directories, try linking back to a different site each time. Example: Monday EZArticles links back to Blogger Tuesday Goarticles links back to Squidoo etc.... This will help get you more traffic as well, even if you only do it with 1 article a day or so. Please bear with me on the blogger/squidoo side of it. So if I have this blog that is mixed with PLR and Original content...what specifically goes on the Squidoo lens? - Do I talk about an affiliate product on that page? Graphics and affiliate links oh my... - Do I talk about my blog article on there? I need some clarity on that step. thanks

I admire the enthusiasm behind all this but it seems to be an exercise that helps you to build momentum - to take action. Although you could put some simple ads on the page for Adsense and other products, this site is going to struggle to get any free traffic. You've chosen a broad niche which is just too competitive. However, get this site indexed with the search engines, you can use it later to assist indexing of new sites. A little research shows that this term - "Healthy Tips" - has about 1300 searches a month on Google and 327,000 competing pages. There are about 3,000 well optimized pages already for this term so the chances of you getting much free traffic are very slim. The next stage is to start a new site that will be narrowly focused and deep in content. Build this around a particular product that pays well and your keyword research tells you that you have a chance to rank on the first page of the search engines. You need that for traffic, otherwise you'll have to buy it, which can be a delicate balance for profits and requires careful monitoring of what you are paying. The starting point is to first identify your product and then build a site to accommodate this. Aim for free traffic as this is also of long-term benefit and helps keep down your overheads. Then follow through with an intensive traffic building campaign such as those described elsewhere on this forum. Ivan |

Thanks for the advice. Like you said, this is a starter step for me. Building blogs is not new to me. Building websites is not new to me..but getting into the mentality for article marketing, product affiliation, etc... IS new to me in a way. Quote:
