Amazon Niche Research Tips and Ideas:

I've been building quite a few amazon sites for the past few months and earned a few hundred dollars from my sites. I just want to share some of the things that I do to research on niche ideas. With the Christmas season coming in, I hope that these tips can come in handy:

1. Check out the amazon bestseller list - at the lower right hand of the site you will see the amazon bestsellers. From this list alone, you can actually see what products people are buying.

2. Offline magazines - Try to get ideas from offline magazine subscription sites such as: magazinesubscriptions.com. These magazines are here because they have an audience.

3. Google Hot trends: I've ben using this to give me new ideas on what the new trends are. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you might get products related to your niche that you can easily incorporate to your site.

4. Shopping sites: Christmas season is nearing and most of us amazon affiliates are looking for the next big thing. Well, shopping sites can give us a number of ideas. Toys are us, shopping.com, pricerunner. All of these sites can come in handy during your niche research.

5. Tech Sites, Gaming Sites and Business Idea Sites:

Websites such as:
Techcrunch.com
Gizmodo
Springwise.com
Gamespot
Engadget

These sites are always updating their content with fresh new products and new ideas. Just check out their site every now and then and you might find a winner in these sites.

6.Forums - Try to look at forums dedicated to a specific product of niche. An example would be the baking forums. If you try to look at the post in those forums, you'll get an idea that most of them are using food mixers, baking pans and ovens. From that idea alone, you can easily spot a true winner.

there's a big list of forum sites at: bigboards.com

If you guys have anything to add, feel free to post it here! =)

Watch the commercials that are appearing on TV - especially for toys. Kids want what they see advertised - I talk from experience on that one!

From my unfinished ebook (soon to be published). I pointed out that the best way to know if a product or services will convert and surely give you a sale is to test your brand new site by using adwords. Spend at least couple of dollars and run it for the week by using your keywords.

The trick to it is to find what keywords converts the best and implement it in your site. Another example is if you find a lot of people advertising from adwords from a particular niche you're in, this means someone is making a lot of money and the product or service is in demand.

Good tips. Another way to find more is to visit various toy sites, or other larger retail sites like walmart. They will usually have the front page full of new and hot toys or other products. Getting your weekly paper is a good idea too because the different flyers in the paper will give you tons of ideas.

I've been doing this before and it is the most accurate way to know the exact traffic of a keyword. You can also find golden keywords that are not yet saturated using this method. Nice tip MrLinkBuilder!
