Warriors.... PLEASE help me with my MOM's website... *Plea for help*

Hey Warriors...

I like to think that I know a lot about conversions, lead generation, and affiliate sales... However, for the LIFE of me I know NOTHING about SEO.

Nothing.

Unfortunately, my mother's business doesn't require any of my skills to grow, it requires skills like SEO...

My mother is the "biggest" tailor in the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills area among the elite... Celebrites, Wealthy people, Stores on Rodeo Dr. and Robertson Blvd, and so on.

I recently told her that she needed to get a second location and "expand" her business... you know, get "regular" clients and the such...

If you look at the results for "Los Angeles Tailor" and "Beverly Hills Tailor," you'll see how horribly easy it would be to get the first page results for her...

My problem is that I don't know where to start!

I have "Los-Angeles-Tailor.com" and "Beverly-Hills-Tailor.com" but that is where I am lost...

PLEASE warriors tell me what I need to do...

-Ali

One thing- I would prefer not to have her ACTUAL website "fully optimized" as it wouldn't match with her niche... her website is Untitled Document (It will just have her number under her name... thats it... one page).

Your mother has a huge head start because of the domains, and the relative lack of competition.
Prepare some 5 articles about her tailoring, and about Los Angeles/Beverly Hills. At least 1-2 about tailoring in that specific area, and what to look out for when going to a tailor, etc. Then link from those pages to your home page.
Submit the site to local directories and free directories.
Give it time - the sooner you start, the better for you.

I'm no SEO expert but you may want to start by giving the web page a TITLE.

Ray, I just got that template and uploaded it as a place holder...

Regardless, I do not want to optimize that site... it is supposed to look very plain... But I have now added the title

Excuse me, as I don't want to sound disrespectful, but if you have made serious loot (enough to purchase a Maserati), hiring out for a designer & SEO expert should be a breeze!

Basic SEO involves broad, deep, relevant content. Start from there, and trade links with various local clothing stores, and you should be set.

Content on a site like that isn't rocket science. Basic stuff like proper clothing care, emergency fixes (for those moments when you just can't get to a tailor right away), heck even content on proper wearing of ties and handkerchif folding could only help.

Except from what I have seen so far, SEO Experts seem to always charge exorbitant prices and then not deliver on what they have offered.

I'm willing to buy a $20,000 home study course if I need to...

If you want something done right, do it yourself. Plus, I love learning... don't you?

        Ali,

Why don't you kill two birds with one stone? Join Stompernet for $897 a month and they will teach you all about SEO.

You could start off with Dan Thies' free SEO book at

This is an excellent article on SEO with some how to links for using keywords. I snagged it from the '114 things post'.

Internet Marketing for Beginners | Internet Marketing Techniques and Theories

Are you familar with "What Not to Wear"? Stacy and Clinton ALWAYS talk about getting ready to wear tailored. You could ride on their coattails. (couldn't resist the pun) Don't forget about "alteration" and "seamstress" as keywords. Also "fitted" or "take in jacket, pants, dress or whatever" for searchers that don't know sewing lingo. Yeah, I've been sewing all my life. That's a whole 'nuther niche!

      My recommendation:

The SEO Bible by Jerri L. Ledford.

I got it from Barnes and Noble.

It is around $40 and nearly 400 pages. Excellent book.

      Hope that helps.
