Malware On My Site - Google Attack Page Warning

I have malware on one of my sites, and it's triggered off the "SUSPECTED ATTACK PAGE" warning, my traffic was plummeted as a result.

Can anyone help me out, point me in the right direction to finding and removing the malware on my site?

Thanks,
Matt

Do you think your website was hacked?

If so, you need to contact your hosting provider and tell them.

However, I've heard of that warning come up for sites that didn't have anything wrong with them.

    Did you change anything recently?

Your best bet is probably to contact your host.

Do you have a backup of your site? If you do, and your host can't help you, then you could try using ftp software to remove everything and re-upload.

But best to start by contacting your webhost.

The smaller host that I use has ClamAV installed which you can access via cpanel to scan your web space. I've never seen it on any other webhost.

I'm not 100% sure if it's actually been hacked/malware'd, but just need to know for sure.

Hit the first spot for the keyword I'm targeting the other day, hope that a competitor hasn't put me in it.

I'm with hostgator, going to contact them now. Thanks for the help!

Is your site WordPress? WordPress plugins get hacked all the time. I'd google each of the plugins you have and see if any of them have any vulnerability. Make sure to upgrade that plugin (and all your other programs) and change all of your passwords.

What usually happens is one person finds a security vulnerability in WordPress or a WordPress plugin, then writes a bot to search for every site using that WordPress plugin and hack into it.

HostGator should be able to help remove the malware but you should check on your own to make sure all of your scripts and plugins you are using are up to date.

It happened to one of my sites a couple of months ago and even though I deleted all my plugins, I still kept getting the warning. In the end I had to go with a service that cleaned the site for me through my cpanel and notified Google that the site had been cleaned. Took less than 12 hours.

This happened to me a while back, too, on a number of my WordPress sites. I use HostGator, and though it took them a few tries (ie, the problem went away and came back again), they took care of it. All my sites somehow had links or ads from or redirects to domains ending with ".cc".

I went over things with HostGator on the phone and they upgraded my case to "urgent". All I can offer is to get in touch with whomever's hosting your sites. Best wishes!

    R.

    A gross annoyance this stuff.

McAfee's half-baked service tells visitors my website "hosts malware" - yet doesn't tell me where it apparently is! (despite the fact I run NO ads and built every line of code)

Look everywhere you can for a contact link and keep pestering them!

Looking better, hostgator staff have removed the malware and I'm running a full malwarebytes scan to remove any malware from my computer.

Haven't updated it in nearly 2 months so no wonder I've been attacked, normally find 2 or 3 infections but it's currently on 64.

I cannot describe how much I loathe these idiots who unleash viruses.

It happened to me too and I totally shocked by this. The only thing I did is contact my webhosting service and after few minutes of continuous chatting and monitoring, my site is ok now.
