Should I convert my Flash site to Html to be mobile friendly?

I'm considering changing my company flash site for a mobile /tablet friendly html site.

My colleagues recommended me to kill my flash site because I'm loosing leads, the site is not showing up on Google Search, and Iphones and Ipads users cannot see it.

Should I have both versions?
Should I kill it completely and have only a html version?

What's the best way to convert it if there is any? Or do I have to build it from scratch?

I would only IF you have mobile traffic, try looking for that under anaylitics.

If you do not have it couldn't hurt, what you can actually do is just redirect based on device. So when they go to your site with a mobile device they will be redirected to the mobile friendly version.

You can if you want to. Most sites have some mobile visitors these days, even if there are not a lot of them.

It is well worth the small amount of time it takes to put together a mobile version of your site and set up a redirect so that when people go to your site on a mobile device they automatically get sent to your mobile friendly version.

There are a couple of ways to do that. You can hire someone to make you a mobile site, or do it yourself if you have the capability. There are warriors who could do that for you and there are wso's you can buy that show you how to do your own.

You can set up a separate mobile site and upload it to your host from there you would just add a redirect tot he mobile site once they land there. No need to change the whole site just create a mobile version and send traffic there.

I'd kill it. Flash is a dying technology, for the reasons you've mentioned.

Go with good old fashioned HTML! (ie Wordpress)

I would definitely create a mobile optimized version of your website and offer it up to those people who are on mobile devices BUT I would also redo the main website and get rid of all the flash. I still can't believe people use flash all over their websites these days. It is a dying technology (as someone posted above) and it does nothing at all to help your search engine rankings.

You can accomplish the same affect you're after using jquery.

    Kill the flash.

Get rid of the Flash. It is old school, hurts SEO, presents usability problems, and has no purpose other than trying to impress. You don't need it.

Exactly! JQuery can produce most of the same effects. Definitely kill the flash for sure. I can't believe that's actually a question. Nothing inside of your flash file can be indexed by google. All they see is one giant flash file. They have NO IDEA what it is relevant to (aside from filename and inbound links). You're destroying any possibility of getting targeted organic searches to your site. Not only that ipods, ipads and iphones dont natively support flash (can if jailbroken) With such a largr percentage of users on mobile it makes sense to accommodate them now and moving forward. I hate flash, I hate flash websites and I think the rest of the world both developers and users will agree.

A few years ago, from a design point-of-view a flash-based site probably had a big "Wow" factor but a slow-loading flash website will have me leaving in a heartbeat.

That said, if you are in love with the flash site, I would agree with a couple of the others, that you can create another version and redirect depending on the device.

But keep in mind, you don't need to have flash to capture a viewer's interest. A basic quality designed website will do that for you and will give those that land on your site a chance to see what you really have to offer or say.
