Holiday Season & Sales Drop Off

Well folks, it's that tim eof year again. Typically, November, December, and January are the WORST 3 months of the year for me sales wise. I typically experience 30%-40% sales drop offs, and I'm just wondering if any of you also have these issues, and what are some of the things you do to generate that extra income?

It seems like Internet Marketing takes a hit when the cash is needed most!

I've also noticed that it has been much worse than usual since the bottom fell out of the economy real bad about 3 years ago.

The holiday season actually is when I do the heaviest promotions and advertising. People seem to buy more readily during this time for nearly all niches, but the competition becomes more intense as well.

Some niches do poorly during November and December. Others explode during these two months.

If it's a problem, consider diversifying by going into a niche that's strong during the holidays.

It all depends upon the niches you are promoting, but the holiday season is my best time of year. I guess I would try to add different niches to even out the up and downs of your sales.

I suppose it depends on what you are selling/promoting. For physical products I promote as an affiliate; Nov., Dec., Jan., are strong with Christmas and after-Christmas shopping.

It's also strong for my online physical media sales, as it's a combination of the Holidays and January back to school needs.

For other types of affiliate programs, like health, it's not at strong.

In business you're always have peaks and troths. For some people the summer months can be tough.

The key is to have multiple incomes so that when times are harder for one product/service another one will boom.

I've had a slight drop off one year and I corrected it the next year by preparing my customers mentally with a strong lead up to deep holiday discounts. People are ready to buy if you have something valuable like a gift card. I ran a gift card CPA campaign for Victoria's secret and made bank last Thanksgiving. 13% of those people eventually bought one of my own products within 60 days.

Moral of the story: "tie-in" to the holidays, don't spend too much marketing and advertising dollars; too much competition.

Well, thanks for all the great responses. I focus on the IM niche software, websites, etc, and I think the holidays is when folks have the least amount of cash for digital stuff. Never went in to physical stuff like Amazon & Ebay, but maybe it's worth a shot.
