Do You Know Which Biz Model Fits You?

I've been struggling to get going and feel pulled in many directions like a lot of folks. I'm really trying to narrow my focus, as I am sure many of you are.

So, since a lot of successful warriors narrowed their businesses down to 1 or 2 business models at some point, and have talked about picking the one that fits... my question is...

Which business model fits you and me. Here are some ideas I've picked up...

For the hermit, anti-social type, driven more my profit and shiny cool objects... the appropriate model might be a purely affiliate model focused on a couple of niches of interest for marketing online and offline products, and maybe not so much concern for social media or list building. Just applying skill at pages, seo, backlinking etc...

For the socialite, a business built around social media, interactive blogging, teaching, webinars, conferences, and local meetings to share skills or experiences or inspiration or doing consulting might work.

For the creative type, who likes some interaction but wants to put out some art or create something of great value... an info product / or video/photo/music product that fills a need they care about is the way to go.

For the can't figure what to do when you grow up / never really found your passion type, starting out as an affiliate using blogging or performing a service and adding products, services as you grow... might work... focusing on a niche of interest... the key being to start with the basics and market to beginners in your niche as you develop your skills / knowledge.

....

So any more categories you want to add?

Which one do you think best describes you?

What if you are not sure which one?

Thanks,
Mark

quite frankly I was expecting something much different

I like the way you organized the biz models by personality types

myself I am an engineer by background and creative so I would primarily place myself in the creative type and dab into the other areas depending on how I feel the times.

Yes, I dabble too... way too much... so I definitely have some of the creative type.

After reading and listening to lots of experienced warriors, I think some convergence of personality type, interest/passion, and value/what matters... will lead to the best business...

I'm still having a little trouble because I only started discovering what these are and found out I developed skills in an area that doesn't fit these... so I didn't produce enough or take enough action... just wasn't motivated.

      Thanks for sharing...

I feel like a hermit around corporate people, big business, offices and large groups of people anywhere...

but I feel like being more social and kind of need it in really small groups with people who share my values.

I tried out social media management... Not for me... I can manage my own social stuff in my own little groups... just not for others.

for me it is definitely selling information products through affiliates, and high end consulting services.

I can literally work all day and night and not even feel like I am doing anything.

I've been blessed enough to adopt the typical e-commerce model long time ago with great results. By typical e-commerce model I mean selecting a category of products people want and use, finding sources to procure those products (cheaply), putting up those products on a website, marketing effectively to make sales and ultimately earning your profit. This methodology puts to use one's creativity, resilience, organizational skills, and the desire to be fiercely competitive. Nothing matches the thrill of waking up in the morning with orders waiting to be fulfilled. Above all, the joy of being your own boss, providing job-opportunities to others, and being a responsible contributor to the economy while living the American dream is second to none. As a wise one once said, "Do what you love, love what you do." On a side note, Steve Jobs (a rather successful entrepreneur I must say) laid a lot of emphasis on finding something you love (and have passion for), and in my entrepreneurial experience I have found that to be the key. Find what you love and then love like no other. Best of luck to all trying to find what suits them the best.

Excellent way of putting it Faisal!

Was your passion more in the products, or earning the profit and living the dream?

        Thanks,

Thanks Mark. My passion was to sell online. Because I knew that if one could develop the skill to sell, they could pretty much sell any product (online) and ultimately write their own paycheck. Also, I was fascinated by the idea of building something big right from one's tiny dwelling. I could sense how empowering it would be to be able to sell online to millions and millions all over the world, and I knew that once successful, it would open up the world for you and take you places you never imagined possible. That desire to be successful fueled my passion. I knew that if done right you could build something that could be virtually unstoppable. In doing so, you'd never have to salute a boss, never have to pressure/urge someone in person to buy a product from you, and success in your craft would fulfill your (American) dream. Check, check, and check.

You are inspirational Faisal. If you haven't already, you should be interviewed by the big name bloggers who are always sharing success stories.

Thanks for sharing. I can feel what you are saying and see that your "why" is clear and drives you.

Congrats to your hard work and achievements.

Thank you for the kind words. I am glad we were able to share. Feel free to add me as a friend and if you wish I could do the same. I literally joined this forum today and realized that there's probably lots I can share here. I see lots of me (Faisals) in here (rewind the tape about 10 years). Many people need guidance, inspiration, and clarity, and I intend to provide it when I can. What drew me to this forum is the name 'WarriorForum'. I so remember as I was toiling hard to achieve success in face of severe adversity, many many times I literally felt like a warrior fighting his war to achieve my piece of success. And, when success finally comes in your war, it doesn't come any sweeter. Best wishes to you.

      Nicholas,

I love hearing that... you have found that zone where you can be massively productive.

Do you enjoy the selling / managing of the process, or seeing how people react to the products or maybe just the numbers and the excitement of looking at the sales figures?

      Thanks,
      Mark

I was expecting something different from the title, too but find this interesting.

I fit a couple of the types you have listed here.

But what "model" I selected (after going through the trying everything and getting confused stage) was to determine what I like, then I found things that people are already buying in the areas that I like, create a list of those people by offering them a lot of really great stuff that I wanted myself and had to look high and low for it and paid a lot of money for.

Offer that to those people for free and then move on to the next area I liked and do the same thing.

So my model is a combination of several of your models in that I am an affiliate and I also like to create things and I also like to be social.

So I combined it all. Seems to be working for me!

The maximizer in me loves this... taking full advantage of all your abilities and not just settling for a modest business in one area, but going all-in to several areas that matter to you.

      Thanks for sharing.

        Nice post mate
If people spent more time thinking about things like this at the beginning they would spend far less time and money bouncing around - some people starting out think IM is one thing - you learn it then profit (guilty)

Its like if you ask someone what they do and they say 'I work in an office'
Donald Trump works in an office and so does his cleaner.

          Thanks Mike.

I agree... That' exactly what I'm trying to do this time.. spend more time up front trying to find something that matters enough to me that I'll stick with it.

I'm finding that I'm driven enough to work from home, so I can be with my family... but that doesn't keep me going all the way to the end. I want the content of my site to matter as well... that kind of narrows things down, but still not enough...if I can merge my interests and personality... I should have a winning combination...

I'm definitely the creative type. I enjoy solving problems by creating products that were a mere figment of my imagination. Also, fulfilling an immediate need is a sure fire way to launch a successful business.

    Hi!

I can find myself under the "more creative type". I love doing a bit more work and get paid off later and I hate the routine of creating content and backlinking. That can be outsourced and thank god some people love doing it.
