INTERNET MARKETING

I am teaching a class on Nov 16 called "Promote Your Web Site For Free." I wanted to mention using press releases as one of the techniques.

Are there any good free, press release services I can recommend to my class? I have used PR Web before with good results but it is a paid service.

PRLog is the best free one, and gets propagated to Google News.

I signed up for fastpitchnetworking.com (I think they have a new name now) and I used their free PR service. You could always pay for an upgrade but I found the free version highly effective.

Try PRLog, it's free. I'm not sure what else there is out there besides those two though. Good luck with your class!. And, speaking of press releases, what is the success with them in regards to getting visitors/buyers to a website?.

I've seen some new start up sites that are two weeks old or so (usually on website selling market places) who offer services and seem to generate 600 or so dollars a week despite not doing any SEO, nor backlinking, article writing, using Facebook, etc, and using free techniques. I'm guessing press releases might be part of their strategy?, even though, I've searched for these sites on google and haven't found a single PR link or anything.

I've used PR web for the most part. I just sent out a PR yesterday that netted zero traffic. However I know it takes time. I have someone contacting relevant websites/blogs and sending a "hello" with the PR. One person already tweeted my site.

I sent out 3 releases with PRLog paid this week for niche blogs. Too early to tell if it did anything.

I would say using some sort or release along with emailing it to potential partners/leads/relevant sites will help rather than using no PR at all.

Feedback is the larger more expensive PR release firms are better but I don't have the money right now to test that out.

I think it's important to check Page rank and monthly traffic on the PR site too.

Thanks Guys. PRLog does appear to be the most respectable of the free ones. I will go though and check out the others as well.

TopCat22, fastpitchnetworking just seems to be a scoring system now for social media rather than a place to do press releases.

You need to submit to PR sites that allow links and will also syndicate your PR to other sites... Many in the above list don't do that... Handful of PR submissions are great if they in turn get syndicated...

There are a few warriors who offer very reasonably prices PR service. You can do a search to find them. Plus you could always try Fiverr. Obviously not free but pretty darn cheap.

Press Releases are a powerful tool but only if done correctly. I would like to suggest if you haven't already that there would be some mention of doing it the correct way which increases not only the power but the ability to get picked up by more powerful news services.

  You could take the 50+ Free Press Release Sites link list that I posted, print and hand out to your class or email it to them, and let them check them ALL out for themselves.
