"I want to be rich like you" she told Bill Gates, and he said...

I watched the recording of a rather fascinating presentation by Bill Gates at Washington University yesterday, where he talks about the future.

If you care about education and malaria eradication, 'modeling' technology and health care reform, you may want to listen to the entire presentation.

But if all you're interested in is making a lot of money, then the segment between minute 50:00 and 55:00 is what you need to focus on.

A lady student asks Mr.Gates how she should go about fulfilling her childhood dream of being one of the richest people on earth... and Bill's response is something classic, wise and, in an indirect way, very inspirational.

Bill Gates Talks About the Future

This phrase kind of sums it up - "... same old hamburger!"

Find something you enjoy doing and be ambitious.

Once you have millions, anything beyond that is just a greater responsibility. You either leave it for your kids (which Gates says may not be good for them) or you find ways to give it away.

      I think his greatest "secret" was . . .

Gates said he never aspired or set out to be rich. He found something he had a passion for, got some friends to do it with him, and the rest is history.
