Help in Getting Started

Hi,
I am both new to this forum and to Internet Marketing. I am a single Dad of 5 kids working as a fork lift truck driver on minimum wage and I would LOVE to provide a better life for my family.

I totally get the power of the internet and how people harness it to make serious money.

What I need is something simple......a step by step guide to getting something off the ground that I can do in my limited spare time.

I am a fast learner, hard worker and am willing to really learn this business, but everything I have looked at so far presents me with info overload!

I would love to know if there is a workable system to my situation that will give me some fast but realistic results so that I can build and scale it with the profits I make as I learn.

Hoping someone can help me, as I dont want to be one of the 95% that fail at Internet marketing and have to carry on in this dead end job Im in, but rather provide a good life for my kids and hopefully have some extra time to enjoy it with them.

Best regards to you all,

Andy Benson

    Hi Andy,

Why don't you start by browsing through this section here.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/make-money-online/

If you have a spare $37 then I would strongly recommend that you join the War Room and all you do for the next few weeks is READ. Then take a break and decide how you want to move forward.

Generally one needs time or money but preferably both to start a business. With limited time you could provide a service or create a product to sell. Either of those things is going to require some learning...time.

It's nice to meet you Andy.

It sounds like you do have the motivation needed to succeed.

Making money online is not as complex as so many people make it out to be.

You really only need to do two things.

    1. Find or create a high converting offer.
    2. Drive traffic to that offer.

If you do those two things, you will make money.

The challenge of course is who to create/find good offers and how to drive traffic to those offers, but it's not that much of a challenge if you keep testing and trying new things.

    Oh, and word of advice.

DON"T BUY EVERY SYSTEM YOU SEE.

There are so many marketers trying to sell magic bullets that really don't exist. Please don't fall for the hype.

If you stay focused and don't quit, you'll make it.

I wish you the best man.

Just remember this - the most important thing about IM is getting stuck in and doing it - find a method or system that you want to try, and follow it through.

Most people fail in this game because they don't follow through.

You will find more than enough methods and systems to try by reading through the threads on this forum. FInd one that you think you can follow, and just do it!

    Success comes through tenacity!

I wish I had father like you.

My advice is, read some of the threads in here so you know a thing or two about internet marketing and don't buy money making ebooks.

Here's a good thread to read:

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. It's great that you want to build a better life for yourself and your kids. Take some time to read through the forum and learn. See what sort of model sparks your interest. If you have the money I would suggest that you invest in the War Room. There is a lot of great info in there, especially in Allen's Ideas section. You are going to be bombarded with a lot of information, but just pick one thing and stick with it until you reach your goals.

    Greetings, Andy, and welcome!

    Here is my $0.02.

Think about what really interests you. Those topics are the places to start. Then start thinking about what you could offer people that would be of value to them - not necessarily a product here yet. Advice? Entertainment? Interest?

Also think about what media you would like to work with. The written word? Video? Don't worry that you maybe don't know much about writing content or making videos...these are really easy things to learn.

Then you can start to investigate all of the ways to put these things together.

At the end of the day, people will have to buy something to make you profit. Whether that is your own digital product or someone else's digital products (members site, training product, ebook) or a physical product (drop shipped, Amazon etc) or a service you can offer.

That is why it is best to put your thinking cap on before you dive in and start buying WSO after WSO.

However you end up progressing, I wish you well and sincerely hope that you can get to the lifestyle you are dreaming about for you and your family.

    Hey Andy,

I would recommend that you just start taking massive action on what you have learned. I know you said you are struggling with info overload, and that is something that almost everyone does struggle from, so just focus on one solid method that you have read about, and go through with it.

You need to focus on that and learn more about it while taking action, but don't get caught up in reading and learning. The best way for you to learn right now is to just start doing, and doing more.

I would recommend you stay out of the "make money online" niche and similar niches until you get your feet wet. Stay in niches with less competition and maybe try to drive traffic using offline methods, where it is much less saturated.

Hope this helps, and above all, just do it, and do it some more, and you will HAVE to be successful.

Hi Andy. Welcome to the forum.

I can totally understand about information overload. I was there, too.

The best advice I got on this forum was to find one method and focus on just that.

Also, don't get tempted to buy anything until you have a plan.

There really is no one ebook or one piece of software that will do it all for you regardless of what the headlines say.

You can make money online if you think of this like a business and to start any business you have to get set up.

So just don't get discouraged during the learning and set up stage, that way, you can build something that will work now and continue to build for the future.

    Good luck.

Hey Andy i just read your message and i truly connect with you.
YES the internet can be very overwhelming and frustrating any person who has a successful business online will tell you that but i believe that you can make income by first finding a method that truly works and that is reliable. Or finding a coach or mentor that can guide you and cut your learning curve. You can find a membership site and join it to learn marketing strategies and some membership sites make you earn while you learn. So its pretty cool! if you have any questions feel free to contact me

    Welcome to the WF, Andy!

From your initial post alone I'm confident you're going to successful at this.

As Di said, just READ through the forums for the first week or two. Take notes, and search (google or wkikpedia) the terms and concepts you don't understand.
That will eliminate the "information overload" faster and better than just about anything.

Feel free to join in the discusssions, and don't be afraid to ask questions. (We have that "clue" on the left about your join date and how many posts you've made - and MOST of us take that into consideration before firing up the flamethrower. )

Meanwhile, all this will be buzzing around inside your head, and some of it is going to be more attractive to you than others. What you need to do is brainstorm your interests, your strengths, etc., and decide on how you can best apply what you're learning. Don't rush this! That's where a lot of those "95% failures" went astray.

It's the nature of this business that everything - literally - is uniquely personal, from your choice of business model, choice of niche(s), ultimate goals, and how soon you realize them.

As you'll see soon enough, whether you're going after an online or offline market, marketing a product or service, it always boils down to finding out what that targeted audience wants and needs, and what they are willing to pay you to provide it.

With five kids, that complicates things slightly, but you'll be able to find time for your business, too. You'll just have to juggle things around until you find what works best for you.

You only fail if you quit, it's impressive how much I learned this month and half since I've started. For me was to stop reading and start doing. If your interested in building a website to sell products. It's better just to start off with being an affiliate.

Get a good a webhost another site to buy your domains so you don't have problems. Go to a site like clickbank to find a product to promote. Then start building your website. Building my first website was just a pain in the ass but I've learned alot. You can praticly learn all the basics about how to use clickbank, wordpress, seo etc... from youtube. It's incredible I found over there everything.

Also "SEO Book" is a great site and they send you a tone of great free emails with a lot of info from how to do backlinking, seo your site etc. Another one is "Passive Income duel, Pal Flyn". He explains all his process in building his site etc.

    Then it's this forum

It takes a lot of learning through trial and error unless you find a mentor to work directly with.

    I could give some steps:

    1. Find a niche. My personal favourite niche is offering advertising services.
    2. Learn technical stuff to build your website. Also you can buy already an establihed website and start developing it.
    3. Learn how to build traffic. Different types of websites need different types of traffic.
    4. Find ways to monetize your traffic through Adsense or your own products and services.

This is in short actually something I wish somebody told me when I started with IM 3 years ago

    Hi,

I too am a newbie, I started IM about 6 months ago and I have a blog promoting an article re writer and currently backlinking like crazy. I have had some interest but no sales!! I have read alot and can see where you are coming from with information overload, I have had to take a step back from all the BS out there. With experience you can start to see through most of it.

I have researched quite a few niches now and have a plan well kind of, the problem I have is putting all of the pieces together to have one solid blueprint so I can test. Very much the early stages of my IM career, like most people have said is don't give up, keep going. I can say that I have wanted to give up so many times, one question I will ask is there any one piece of software either a WSO or another guru program that actually sets it all out.

I have looked at Bring The Fresh, google sniper 2 and Colin farrell's I must say that BTF I didn't take the full membership option. I don't have much of a budget so I want to invest correctly in what I need, I have to manually secure my backlinks at the moment because I think thats how you learn, eg social bookmarking sites etc...

Another comment I saw was earning whilst you are being coached or mentored, I would be really keen to do this. Does anyone know of such a program I could have a look at?

But I think I have something that can help you... I took note of something a month ago and was planning on giving it to my sister.. she wanted to make some extra money too ... You could do this and learn Internet Marketing and SEO along the way in your spare time.

BUT I took note of the One-Time-Offer links as well The creator of this product had 3 OTOs.. all where the same prouct at reduced prices and here the $9.95 link

        Hi Andy,

Welcome to a new journey. Few things to keep in mind when you begin this worthwhile journey.

        1. The most important thing I have to say to you is have TONS of patience in the beginning especially if you are a non-technical person.

        2. There is a lot of information out there, so take it easy with all this new information. First few weeks read and don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you like.

        3. Pick a method you feel comfortable with and start working on it.

        4. DON'T chase all the information products under the sun! The more you buy the more you are losing money and TIME.

        5. Don't try different methods at the same time. Stick to one.

        6. Did I mention have TONS of patience? Because this will be a long journey to start making stable and steady money. But totally worth it!

        Platforms to make money on:
        1. PPC (Pay Per Click)
        2. PPV (Pay Per View a.k.a Cost Per View)
        3. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

        Models:
        1. Cost Per Sale (CPS)
        2. Cost Per Action (CPA)
        3. Cost Per Lead (CPL)

These are just the basic models to get started.

        Good luck!

Hey Andy I think there is some awesome information already given in this thread so I cant really add much apart from perhaps some more general advice that I really wish I listened to when I first started out:

    1) Decide on a business model for example affiliate marketing, ecommerce or whatever and then find a method you feel comfortable with and really get stuck in to the information. Read around the topic and become familiar with your 'area' of work.

    2) Whatever you do stick with it! Make a plan of action, a business plan and stick with it! Many (including myself in the past) have deviated from the plan chasing after the 'next shiny thing' or 'killer technique' that will make a lot of money quickly! Stick to your plan....it will be a long road but trust me it will pay off.

    3) Realise that internet marketing like anything else in life takes time and effort to learn, master and make money from. Its not an easy ride and do not believe you can make instant money just by being part of the 'internet trend'. That being said if you can get past the hype you certainly are the master of your own destiny when it comes to online marketing!

I wish you the best and welcome to the WF! This place has to be one of the best in order to start learning how to make money online!

As I am new to some of this, I have found it helpful to learn the terminology first. Starting out, one of the worst things was to have information flying at you and not having a clue what was being said.

To be able to answer some of what you are looking for I have a question for you, for quick income, what type of additional income are you looking to make?

Take action. Everytime you learn something here in the forum, take action. If you fail, that's fine, just try harder and learn new ways.

Internet marketing is just like any other business out there. It needs a lot of structure and planning. Above all, be very organised.

I also agree on some of the comments here that you should not buy every clever quick get rich schemes out there. It takes time to make money online, but when you learn how to do it, you can enjoy the benefits.

Finally, don't give up quickly. Warriors here will help you learn but you need to go ahead and take action.
