Being Found For Keywords Not Provided

by Miguelito203 4 replies
Hey, guys. Lately, I have been found for keywords that are "not provided," according to Google analytics. I don't know why this started happening. Does anyone know what this is about?

Thanks,
Joey

I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem, but generally every website or page is going to be found for keywords and keyphrases that the webmaster hasn't anticipated. That's the gravy. Yes, we all try to target certain keywords, but we aren't looking to keep other keywords out... unless we are paying for the extra keywords somehow, and that'd be an issue related to whereever that traffic is coming from (such as PPC).

    • It happens to many websites, and I can only see it being a good thing.

On one of my sites, my main keyword only brings in around 8-12% of my traffic. I was also found for 5000+ other phrases.

Google analytics has stopped giving out keywords. That is all, search for more details on Google.

This is partially true, but doesn't give the whole story. I searched around a little bit and it looks like the "not provided" shows up when people use Google's new encrypted search feature:
