How to test a product?

Since I'm new to Internet marketing I have to ask you a total newbie question:

I have now been looking in for interesting niches for quite a while, and I would like to test drive some of my products I've thought of. I know I have to specialize on something so I thought I could write an info product.

But I'm a person who likes to test a lot before investing a lot of time. So I was wondering if it's really necessary to buy a domain name in your niche in order to set up a PPC campaign. Before buying a domain name, I like to test drive the product if it sells or not. So I thought I could set up a temporary free web domainto make a landing page and see if it converts. And if it converts I can easily buy the real domain name.

I would like to hear your device. I would be especially interested in some step-by-step approach.

    Are you sure your first entry into online business should be to create your own product?

    That opens up another can of things to do for a newbie and maybe testing the affiliate model would be best and then after you have some experience slapping up landing pages and learning how to drive traffic to the pages - you can create your own product.
