Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Install Problems...

Aaargh...I've just spent several hours this afternoon trying to get my new copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred installed on my computer.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this problem?

I kept on getting an 'Error 1330' message (problem with the Digital Certificate on the AUS1.cab file) when I tried to install Dragon normally. After consulting their online knowledgebase I was able to get it installed by using the custom install option (not installing the language options straight away).

However, when I went to set up a user profile for Australian English I run into exactly the same problem with the AUS1.cab file and can't set it up.

I've tried transferring the setup files from the DVD to my computer's hard drive but that hasn't made any difference. I just tried to submit a support ticket on the Nuance site but was unable to (ticket submission process doesn't seem to be working properly).

This is soooo frustrating ...has anyone else had this problem & if so how did you manage to solve it?

Thanks

Rachel

    Are you running Vista?

If so try the second option again using the files from the dvd. But, make sure to right click and select 'run as administrator'. Then go from there.

    Rachel,

I realized I might have been a little brief. I had a similar issue and found the thread that helped me here:

    KnowBrainer Forums -

Read through that and see if it helps. It looks like Dragon's support isn't the best.

Didn't have any luck with the 'Run as Administrator' option (same error message) but there's a few other things on the KnowBrainer forum page you sent that I'll try first thing in the morning (getting late here ).

Thanks for your help...will let you know how it goes.

Are you running Vista in 64 bit. Dragon won't run in 64 bit.

I fired off a letter to them by snail mail when I discovered Dragon wouldn't work on a new laptop because of the 64 bit problem.

I actually received a phone call from them last week telling me there will be a new version soon that will run in 64 bit.

Their install is very buggy. They should send the programmer who did it packing and hire someone who knows how to write a proper install program that works correctly and easily on all the target platforms.

This really ticked me off. You'd think they'd have a 64 bit system...but, I was disappointed and had to put it on my other puter.

    Hi Don,

No, my Vista is 32 bit so it should work fine...in theory!

I tried all the different options on the KnowBrainer forum for installation without any success - both on my laptop and desktop computer. Still got the same error message.

I'll try to install it on an older computer I have here that's still running on XP and see if that makes any difference. If not, I'm starting to think that the AUS1.cab file is simply going to have to be replaced...with one that has a proper digital certificate.

    Thanks guys,

Just a quick update, spent quite a while trying to install Dragon on my older XP computer this arvo but still with no luck. Obviously nothing's going to change until that file has the correct digital certificate .

Can't say I'm too happy with Nuance...

I had installation problems when I installed DNS 10. Tried contacting the company but didn't get the help I needed. I found this site & it worked. The guy is a former tech for DNS.

Anyone know any news on a Mac version? I bought Viavoice a year ago, it was a mac version but hadn't been updated since Panther, I could never get it to install and got so busy I never dealt with it. I got the impression that the tumbleweeds were blowing through their support dept.

I am running vista home and it has a voice recognition software that i have been using and very happy with it. I would check in your control panel for windows speech recognition and set it up. I was very surprised in the how the software worked so well. Other then that i am no help with your dragon naturally speaking software.
