How Do YOU Use Your Phone For "IM"?

Hey everyone,

I just upgraded my phone (finally) from a Blackberry to a G2X, and though I'm shameful to admit it, I'm totally new to the Android App Marketplace..

After scanning through a lot of the business apps and such, I started wondering... What Internet Marketing related stuff do YOU have or use on your phone?

Just for kicks I got an HTML editor and FTP client at first. Obviously not to replace my computer, but I think it's funny being able to do that from a phone now. Also got my staples, Dropbox and the Google Docs app.

Anyway, just wondering what ways YOU use YOUR phone

-Tom

I have the Motorola Droid X... and to be honest, my kids get more mileage on FB, than I do for the monthly cost!

However, there are some cool apps in the Android Market.

I rarely use them, but here a few...

    -Advanced Task Killer (Must Have)
    -16 Gmail Accounts (all synced)
    -Adobe Reader
    -Kindle Books
    -YouTube
    -Twitter
    -Facebook
    -Calculator
    -GPS Navigation
    -Tiny URL
    -Quick Office (paid app)
    -Real Player
    -Crackle (FREE Movies)
    -Skype Mobile
    -QR Droid (Bar Scanner)
    -Bar Code Scanner
-Let's Golf 3 HD (KILLER GAME!)
    -MP3 Music Download (7 gb's so far)
    -Camcorder/Camera
    -Voice Recorder
-Full Browser (*Check mobile version of my sites)
-Hot Spot 2GB's (*extra $20 per month)
    -Phone/Text/Voice Mail

Ironically, I can't check my pm's on the Warrior forum, for some strange reason the rest of the site works fine, but cannot access private message tabs.

Also, I rarely use any of the above with the exception of the Gmail, calculator, music, and an occasional game of 3D golf!

However, I would be lost without it!

    Hi,

I have an HTC Thunderbolt and I'm using it to write this post as I do for about half my posts and emails.

The FTP APP works so well that I sometimes prefer it over my PC's FTP.

It's my only camera for graphics when I make my own.

If I wanted to create an audio ebook I wouldn't hesitate to use my Droid.

I write ebooks with it. Although it makes PDFs I've never completed a product with my phone, however, I have a little netbook and between my Droid my netbook and a 4g hotspot I can work anywhere.

I actually got rid of my smart phone.

I found it a waste of space, time, and distracting.

When I went the Sprint store, I had a choice between and HTC Evo for FREE or a flip phone that would cost me $40.

    I chose the later

I've got the HTC desire (Droid) and the most IM related task I use it for is reading wsos on the go! I always download wsos straight onto the phone so I can read and absorb anywhere! I.e doctor/dentist waiting rooms, train/bus journeys or any other time of day I can where I don't have access to my pc! This allows me to do my learning in my phone so I don't waste time reading on my pc and can get straight on with implementing and taking action when I'm a home.

I use my phone for just about everything. To me, it is like walking around with a baby computer. I post on social networks. Keep track of my stats, respond to clients, check emails, etc.

I use all kinds of apps, but the ones sitting on my home screen are:

    * Evernote - super amazing notepad app
    * IMO - IM app
    * Square - for accepting credit card swipes in person
    * Google Talk - for answering questions from clients throughout the day
    * Gmail

But like every other Android junkie, I use my phone for everything, from Facebook to email to IM stuff and more.

Interesting that you use the phone for what I'd consider the more conventional IM things.. After you mentioned you record with your phone, put my camera/camcorder and audio recorder to the test... Yep, definitely unreal quality. I think the audio recorder may actually be better on my phone than my $80 headset + computer

If this was on Facebook, I'd "Like" it haha.. Ya know, against my better judgement I just picked up Seasons yesterday. SO good!

        Hey SirTom,

since you have got an Android based phone, you could try my Domain Coupons app available as FREE download from Android Market. It will save you quite a few dollars on renewals and new purchases, and it will notify you about short-living $1.COM sales from Godaddy (it is so easy to miss those sales b/c they usually last only 2-4 days before reaching their limit, so it is important to get notified in time)

We keep all the coupons current, so you do not have to waste your time searching / verifying coupons. Also, coupons are conveniently ordered so it takes just a few taps to locate current best coupon for your particular need.
        • not just GoDaddy but also includes coupons from NameCheap, Netfirms, Moniker, 1and1, DotEasy, Name.com
        • notifications for new coupons below $5 (below $1 for .INFO) so you will never miss a $1 .COM sale (could be turned off). Also, totally customizable notifications are available through email. You could setup an alert for .COM only and when the price drops to less than $2.50 for example
        • 2 widgets for your home screen - they will show current best price per domain type (one small widget for 3 lines and one larger widget for 7 lines)
        • no ads
        • designed to have absolutely no noticeable effect on your battery life and network usage
        • download it FREE of charge from Google Market. Just search "GoDaddy" in the Market and my app should come second just below the official GoDaddy app. The app title is "Domain Coupons by DPM"
        Best regards,
        Alex
