It's been 2 weeks, I've been waiting patiently, google normally picks up my sites fast, but for some reason this squidoo page is not being picked up, is there something I should do?

this was my first squidoo page. How do you like hubpages?

You can always bookmark it on social bookmarking sites with high traffic like digg or reddit. Usually works to speed up indexing.

Well you could always use http://www.digg.com and Clipmarks - What are you finding on the web? to bookmark it as it will only take a few hours to be indexed..

Google requires a sacrifice of your first born to get ranked. Best to go other routes and get traffic that will make you money. At one time it was as easy as getting backlinks to your site but that is dead. Now it is much more complex. Do what it takes to make money and get ranked naturally over time.

I would suggest making a new lens. Make sure your keyword research is VERY good and you shouldn't have the same problem. It usually boils down to keywords.

      Good Luck,

I'm still doing backlinking to my blog and still worth for me, don't know why people saying its dead now.
Even articles and press releases give us backlinks, without backlinks how people would find our sites?

It all depends, You know you should not bother using just one site to get your ranking, use blogger, hubpages, myspace, and there are loads of top ranking sites that you could possibly promote your service or product on, yes takes alot of time but the end results are great! take my advise.

I found that Google does not find these pages easily if just left on their own, you need back links to the page so that they can find it, some ways you could try this

      Social Bookmarking Sites
Article Submissions Sites (Go Articles & Ezine Articles Recommended)
Make A Useful Comment On A Related Blog
Web Directory's (not all will accept this kind of link)

      Hope that helps

Here's what you need to do:

    1. Make sure your lens is not in WIP (Work In Progress)
    2. Ping your lens with Blog Ping for Squidoo Lenses
    3. Submit your lens to the Best Lens Directories

Blogging about your new lens can also help.

This might seem like a really stupid question but I'm going to ask it. I've been wondering for a while. HOw do you actually know when the site has been indexed by google?

Oh, you really hit the point there, while people offering ways to get the site indexed soon, and the OP have not posted the progress of the squidoo page, we didn't actually ask the OP how should OP know the site is not indexed.

Perhaps google indexed it earlier but without optimization would probably on back pages of search result.

The right answer for this thread I think:
Check first using site:yoursquidoopage on google

That's simple - DripFeed Technology - Google Search

Listing number one ... Digg and Clipmarks will be listed in google within hours and sometimes even less time...

Wasn't there a deal about Google penalizing or removing social media sites from it's index? I remember reading something about this while back. Something about people gaming the system or something so google got fed up with it and stopped indexing sites like twitter, facebook etc...

I could be wrong of course but I thought I read something along those lines. Check into it and reply in the thread if you can verify this.

I still got my facebook and twitter profiles indexed by google, so as my clients'.
Or is it not links for twitter and facebook profiles that you're talking about?

It'd be great if you can provide the link to the article.

My lens is active, I tried to ping it, butit says it hasnt been updated since january 6th... so i tried to edit it, but it is still not saying it was updated.

To see if it is index or not i simply googled the exact url, and "no results found" comes up..

I will try posting on some blogs and social book marks.

building links on high traffic forums like this one. social bookmarking may help but the major ones are "nofollow", meaning search engine will ignore those outgoing links from the the sB sites.
