I have a GREAT idea for a new Fiverr type site

I know, everyone has a great idea for a new Fiverr type site

I have a great domain name that I have been trying to find a use for. It just occurred to me that it would be a great niche "fiverr" type of site.

Does anyone have any information on the best Fiverr type clone? I want to be able to let the sellers offer different pricing than just $5. I did a Google search and found lots of clones, and everyone says theirs is the best. I trust a Warrior recommendation more than any sales page.

I know there are a couple of Warriors that run Fiverr type sites. Any chance you want to share any problems with the Admin headaches that come with running one of these sites.

Thanks,

It's easy to set up another Fiverr clone site, the hard part is getting enough users to use your site.

DotComBum is completely right. Online marketing and advertising are a complete must if you want to make real profit from a Fiverr clone site. Facebook ads/ PPV ; both work towards your favor regarding advertising and marketing.

Unfortunately Fiverr gets more traffic than all the clone sites COMBINED. So theres not really much of an opportunity here unless you pull off something to what Facebook did to MySpace.

        Get on it.

        • After so many others have tried and failed, why would you want to do this?

You can't charge sellers to list on your clone, or they won't do it. And you can't expect buyers to find you, you have to buy traffic. For a while some clones were buying AdWords but it looks like they've run out of money.

If you just have some old dirty money lying around you want to get rid of, play the lottery.

I'm glad not everyone has this mentality. Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone based their success off other people's failures? We wouldn't have airplanes, telephones, electricity, computers, etc....

Ace, the main thing is you have to be different and you have to know how to drive traffic ( a lot of it)...good luck!

And I'm glad most everyone has more comprehension than you.

There's already been a success, a groundbreaking idea brought to fruition that captured the imaginations of people all over the world. The thousand or so clones are simply trying to imitate that idea in hopes of making a few bucks without having to think too hard.

If that's your idea of innovation, welcome to it.

To beat the likes of Fiverr you would need a serious capital injection to back you, not only would the management of it require a support team but the advertising costs to get noticed would be massive. Success would depend more on developing some element of the original idea into a whole new concept as per Myspace vs Facebook and being the first to do it. Either way, it will cost a lot to compete against a company with that many existing competitors and brand awareness. Speaking from experience in unsuccessfully taking on the big boys and raising investment capital etc, I wouldn't bother unless you have 1) a dedicated and highly experienced team to work with 2) a proper investible business plan and 3) the ability to work hard for little to no money for at least 2 years.

I'm not going to create an exact clone of Fiverr. I'm going to build a site using the Fiverr clone software as a tool. Mine is much more niche specific and will have what I think will be more interest to the general public.

I see you used WordPress to build your Fiverrlicious site. That wasn't very innovative. Just using WordPress to build a review site. Or, is what you did with WordPress as a "tool" innovative?

Just my thoughts, your mileage may vary.

Thanks everyone for your input. I realize this is probably a bigger task than I have time for at the moment, and I am definitely underfunded to launch and advertise it like I would to. But, be on the lookout....

That's what 999 other people thought, too.

No, wait, it's 1001 now. I was just spammed by two new "niche specific" clones.

If your idea is hot enough to beat fiverr you need to be looking at a custom solution not just some cookie cutter one. Also you will need to drive traffic to the site and it had better truly be better or that traffic will just leave.

Cloning something does not make money. Anyone can clone something and some hot ideas get made multiple times along the way. But only the best(1 to maybe 5 depending on what it is) will truly survive. The key is what makes your idea amazing.

Facebook beat myspace IMO because myspace allowed the users too much control. myspace pages looked like crap so only the people who liked those crap pages went there. Linkedin stayed relevant because it was trying to be different it was about professional networking not social in the traditional sense. And a lot of the smaller ones service by being a niche in some way.

But if you truly has an idea that is worth doing you need to pitch it to someone you trust with money. You're gonna need money to pull it off and have a shot. Because to get the custom site and to get the traffic you are going to have to pay for them at first.

Waste of time, why don't you try to think of something unique instead of copying it?

You need to stand-out of the crowd and be different.

I haven't run this type of site, but I can imagine that this is not a hands off kind of site to run. Anytime you have a freelance type of site with people paying for and buying services and people posting "gigs", you are going to have a lot of work to do.

From what I see with Fiverr, there are good and bad buyers and sellers. Sellers who offer copyrighted products for one and don't know what buyer problems there are, but there are bound to be plenty of buyers who want refunds, etc.

Make sure you're up for that before you do this.

    You go

get the low priced gig seekers and the buyers will come.

critical mass, 1000 listings, from there it may snowball...or not, no way to know for sure, except to try it. Always room for diversity.

I have seen several clones on the internet where you can alter the price of the job, sorry I don't think this is a new idea. I think you really have to put more of a spin on it.

Honestly it would not be a good idea, because people love somethin new. if you are making another fiverr clone so you'll just increase their popularity, and you'll get nothing rather than bill for your hosting and domain and wasting your time

    just my two cents IMO

As part of the trimunitive sites in my niche, those who know my name know what it is, I will use a fiverr script script, for part of it.

I am positive that my business model will work, knowing my niche as I do and how those who are in it behave. It is very niche orientated. Other BIG suppliers in this field already have the interactivity of being in the middle of buyer and seller.

I find that some here may be closed minded, but the vast majority give constructive criticism. What one plans, may take more $$ and time than at first thought, but that doesn't automatically mean it won't work. Oh and in my niche, there is ALWAYS reinvention, what's old is new and vice versa.

Nothing is ever a failure... Just part of the learning curve.

To the OP keep on keeping on...

You know, apparently Mark Zuckerberg questioned the Winklevoss twins with "Why would you want to build another Myspace, or Bebo, or Friendster...?"

If you can give it a go without losing your mind and too much money, then I say go for it.

Even if it doesnt work, you might just learn something.
