Good Screen Capturing Software

Hey guys,

Would anyone know what's a good screen capturing software that would show the screen properly (without it being fuzzy)? Currently I use snagit but my experience has been horrible.

Do you know any ones out there? Preferably free.

Much appreciate your response.

You can use Jing for the same thing Msands.

Although I am surpassed that you having issues with Snagit, I love that software I use it on my Mac and my PC without issue.

    Regards,

    I use camtasia for video.

But (for screen capture) just get your screen up, and on your keyboard hit the PrtScrn Key and then go to MS PAINT and hit Paste...and save it as a PNG. Comes out very clean and you can use it for web or anything else you want.

I assume you are reffering to vid screen capture?

I use Camtasia though admitely I didn't pay past the trial. Due to use it again for an up and coming project.

I use Snagit too for still images. To tell you the truth I think all screen capture software use pretty low screen resolution and this is where the fuzzy image comes from. Honestly I think your best bet is to wait for them to improve their product which is probably going to be a pretty long wait. Aside from that about the only thing you can do is to take your screen captures into Photoshop and try to clean them up Frankly it's an uphill battle.

Yes I want to use this as a Video Capture. sorry for any confusion...I'll play around with snagit again...I just don't like how fuzzy it looks when I try to edit the video.

        Appreciate the response.

Get Camtasia... It's the best investment for screen recording videos.

I would think that simple Photoshop and the Print Screen button on your keyboard has unlimited potential for still screen captures.

Yeah if you're talking live screen capture video then Camtasia is without question the way to go. Camtasia integrates with Power Point and aside from doing the screen capture stuff it is an excellent video editing software. Yeah to restate thehorizon's point Camtasia is worth every penny for everything it does it is without question the best bang for the buck.

What screen resolution are you using? If the record and playback resolutions are different, the result can look fuzzy or pixelated.

The snipping tool works beautifully in Vista and 7. Just hit the windows key, type snipping tool and it will be at the top of the results half way through. Click on that, use a rectangle select for anything that you want to capture.

I have a friend who paid for snagit. She said this did the same job for free.

No fuzziness at all, a very nice image.

I use Fraps. It is very reliable, easy to use and cheap - there is a free version too if you don't mind a wee watermark.

If you've got money, Camtasia 7. If not, MS Paint does the trick every time! (except for editing of course)

I just use my PrintScreen key on the keyboard and then paste it in an image editor like Photoshop.
