How Niche Does a Niche Have to Be?

As I mentioned in the thread I started the other day, http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ning-work.html, I took a public domain book I have and started to put it together as an eBook. It was supposed to be quick & easy, but I went into overkill mode, plus I got stuck trying to find certain info I need to include but that I haven't fully been able to find. I also have another shorter book I can put together as a bonus.

But, that's pretty much it. Beyond that eBook and the bonus, I really have no idea for upsells or anything of that nature. So, my plan was just to finish it up, put it up for sale, promote it, get affiliates, and let it run its course. Probably keep promoting it for as long as its kept selling. We'll call this one Niche-A.

I also mentioned in that thread that last fall I had started working on a 10-article PLR pack, of which I finished one article. The past couple nights, I've decided to attack it again (and now have 2 articles done). But, I have fleshed out a great deal of stuff. I could either but together a killer PLR deal and sell it for some quick money, or I could keep it for myself to set up a site and promote an affiliate product. I thought I might have enough material for an eBook of my own, but, I'm not sure I really do at this point. So, it would be either sell it as PLR or keep it myself, set up a website and promote an affiliate product(s). Anyway, we'll call this one Niche-C.

Well, in researching articles for Niche-B, I discovered that there is a bit of an overlap between Niche-A and Niche-B. Let's imagine there is a Niche. A subset of that Niche is Niche-A. Another subset is Niche-B. Niche-C is a subset of Niche-B.

Then I realized that I have a 10 year old website with a 10 year old domain name in the big Niche with a slight bias toward Niche-B. I haven't updated it in ages and it has a PageRank of 0, but it does get light traffic and it is indexed in Google.

So, I'm thinking... Does it make sense to build up that website, maybe change it to a blog even, and start building a list on it? Then, I can promote Niche-C on it with an affiliate product. If I one day create my own product on it, I can switch to that. Many of these people I would think are going to also be interested in Niche-A, so I could market that to them as well. And, there's probably tons of stuff in Niche-B that I could promote or create. And, there's a Niche-D that these big Niche people may be interested in too. And, even if Niche-A people aren't interested in Niche-C, and vice versa, there are some common topics that both would be interested in, though for different reasons.

So, does that make sense? Basically, you have one umbrella niche that everyone is under. Or should each little niche have its own list and site?

Not to be an ass but this thread reminds me of:

    Fortune's Real-Life Courtroom Quote #3:

Q: When he went, had you gone and had she, if she wanted to and were
able, for the time being excluding all the restraints on her not to
go, gone also, would he have brought you, meaning you and she, with
    him to the station?
MR. BROOKS: Objection. That question should be taken out and shot.

From what I understand, you can use that well aged domain and put all of those niches in it (I gather there's all related) and create a killer silo'ed site. All tier2's (subsections) will rank if you link it well. (if you're thinking going the SEO route)
