Are Internet Marketers "LAZY"?

Hey Warriors...

As you guys now know, I was on a pretty long hiatus from the forum until about two weeks ago. Since I am back I am sort of in that "honeymoon" phase: rekindling old friendships, posting a lot, and so on...

One of the things I like to do is read the "introduction" posts that people make and answer their questions... but in doing that, I have gotten a bit disturbed (Not really, but it sounds more dramatic than "really confused"... LOL)

It seems to me that LOTS of people who want to make money online, or even want to get to the next threshold of making money online (ie, from making $50/day to $100/day to $500/day) seem to believe that Internet Marketing will make them rich and they don't have to do any work.

They seem to get disheartened when they spend 5 hours of their week to make 5 sales.
They seem to freak out if their site doesn't get massive traffic from the get go.
Or if their YouTube video isn't becoming viral after a day...

Internet marketing IS JUST LIKE ANY BUSINESS.

If you had just opened up a store, would you expect to become a millionaire after a month? NO. NOT AT ALL!

Internet Marketing takes a LOT less capital to start up, but in my opinion, it takes a LOT more blood, sweat, and tears... I mean, when you have a business, you have something physical, pushing you.

You have the nice furniture you got, or the crisp bag of chips and candy, or the tanning machines... anything!

But with IM you have a website, lines of code, and a cup of coffee...

With that said, if you put the effort into it, there is no REASON why you won't be successful... right?

;-)

-Ali

PS- For the examples, and so on, I was using crazy (or not so far off LOL) scenarios to make a point... Don't flame me ;-)

I don't think so... The internet is so big that you can sell the EXACT same product and still make a killing.

I can make a product about "how to bake cookies for your one legged dog for the fourth of july" and I bet that I would STILL make sales.

Just a matter of working at it.

Hhhmmm... all I can say is that I believe that you have to work your rear end off to make money online. I hear all of these stories of easy profit but yet I fail to find anyone that it has worked for other than the person selling their product.

I DO not believe that there is easy money online. I think that someone might get lucky every now and then, but you have to work long and hard to actually make a living at it.

I believe that there are so many ads out on how to make the quick buck and people are desperate and fall into the trap. Then they make an effort to make money and it doesn't work out for them. They come and go. And that... is probably the lazy marketer.

I am still quite new here, but I have seen noticed some outstanding people who work hard and smart.

I was lucky enough to find a mentor, and that has helped a lot.

I have still not made a dime from my efforts, but I can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

Not only that, but I really enjoy the things I have done so far. I guess that is why I am up quite late every night - passion, enjoyment, and good friends.

All those advertising "making money online" want to give you the impression that it's easy, anybody can do it, you can get rich and do nothing... so that they can sell their product.

The real money comes from working hard at it... and using educated effort...

The actual successful marketer is absolutely NOT lazy. Especially those that still have a full-time job... go to work, come home, work for an hour or two on online business, balance the family, pay the bills, etc. etc. etc. That is farrrrr from lazy. I think it's just a common misconception from people who haven't tried it.

    Just my two cents!

Get in the ring with Mike Tyson
Get on the ice with the Great One Wayne Gretzky

      Being lazy hahaha

NO it won;t happen and the same thing goes with the IM market.

You better put in the work or go back to the 9 to 5.
Tscott87, I agree with the educated effort part. Half of the game is common sense. Although it is hard to get into this venture at first, not only because you're being overwhelmed with so much information being available on here, but the posts that you think are the ones that are going to be a good guide to help are complete with others' opinions saying that there's a better alternative than what the OP discussed, so its easy to wind up second guessing things and becoming paralyzed with TMI.

In my personal experience, I find that people can avoid information overload by investing a little money and choosing the right WSO, and even that part is simple if you use your head (choose a WSO released by a well known member of the forum and read reviews, along with similar criteria. At least, that's how I did it. The ones that tell you that it's not going to be easy should tip you off in the right direction).

People should already know by now that the ones by now who are exclaiming that they made a killing doing "this and that" did not do so overnight or they are lying to sell a product. In the case that a member did do it overnight, then they have my respect, lol. The members on here that keep falling into this trap and looking to get rich quick are the ones trying to get to wealth without paying their dues. Stop taking the easy way out and get to work.

After picking a method, then the real work begins. In the case of article marketing, keep pumping out articles and drive traffic to them, or get someone to do it for you. Either way, you are paying in either time and/or money to get this done.

It does not matter what you sell... it is a big world and there is a market for every single product out there on the internet. If MouseandMice actually did make a product about "how to bake cookies for your one legged dog for the fourth of july", it was making sales and had an affiliate program, you can bet that I could write a compelling article with reasons why the owner of a one legged dog should bake cookies for it on the fourth of july, add my affiliate link and then go nuts driving traffic to the article. I'm willing to put up any amount of money saying that it will only be a matter of time before some people out there will buy it. It all boils down to how badly you want it and what you're willing to sacrifice to learn how to do it.

Kobe Bryant did not just wake up one day and became the greatest basketball player in the world today. Michael Phelps didn't just throw on some magic "swim real fast" speedos he bought on the internet to win 8 gold medals. They knew what they wanted to do and got their asses to work.

If you want to make money in Article Marketing, get your ass to work. It will only be a matter of time.

IM is about smart work first and then hard work. This is what was realized after spending a considerable amount of time using more than 6 marketing methods . IM can be compared to the traditional marketing but is a lot more improvised and favors creativity.

I think a few of you guys misunderstood my post...

I wasn't saying that it involves no work, rather I was surprised that so many people jump into it thinking that they will make billions of dollars with minutes of work.

    :'(

Trust me, I know how much hard work is required... My first winter break when I started IM (14 years old?) I was up ALL night until maybe 6 AM working on my sites, etc.

And I didnt make more than a few hundred dollars at the end (MUCH less than the 10 million I had calculated using "newbie math" in my head... haha) but it was enough to get me to keep going

I used to think it was hard to get rich on the internet.

I would work my butt off for 18 to 20 hours a day. Go for months with very little sleep, trying all the time to get people to visit my sites.

After a while it just got too much. Then I saw an advert for a course and I decided to go for it.

It was called "The Sofa Success System".

In a nutshell it boils down to getting up out of bed, turning on your computer and then going to lie down on the sofa for hours on end watching TV, movies and eating chips.

Boy did I start to expand. Now there's no looking back. Literally, I can't even turn my head round anymore.

It was a turning point in my career. I realised I didn't have to work hard anymore.

I get people sending me things in the mail everyday. Lots of brown envelopes with red writing all over them. I get so much mail now that I can't even open it all. It's great.

I pity the poor souls that think they have to work for a living.

The beauty of being an IM is that you can be lazy when you want to, as long as you have done the work up to that point to secure passive income for yourself.

From this point it's just a matter of adding more passive income to increase your earnings. So you can be lazy, but why would you when the harder you work, the more successful you will be

Or is this question supposed to mean like, we're lazy compared to construction workers, because they do physical labor all day and we sit at computers or talk on the phone, or really do anything we want I call that being smart, not lazy :p

    I'm flaming you now.

    Hahah! I kid.

But seriously, you can be lazy once the initial work is done. Generate a passive income like Appsrus says, or, in some cases, have a HUGE product launch that makes you more than enough money for that month and the next.

Then its ok to be lazy for a week or two.

But other than that. I don't see how people can be lazy when starting this. I've stayed up till 5 am for the past few weeks, and I'm not even close to making some more money, at least, not yet.

I plan on having one of those 'Big Launches'. So theres lots of prepwork and getting things going.

    Fun thread!

Man, you should understand from your 1st experience how hard it is to make even 1 lead per day / 1 sale per day. For that you have to work like more than 10 hrs per day to dig deeply how to sell the product as affiliates or owner.

Many marketers claims like work from home at your own comfort & enjoy the times with you family. But the real fact is Internet marketing also a business should take care all time.

It's very hard until you got the perfect money making machine. Once you got the secret, the earning potential is endless. But the same time you have to treat that as your regular business store.

Do you think the gurus who makes morethan 1000$ are lazy & just simply sitting at their home ideal, NOPE. They are the real hard workers to get that limit of earnings. Even a normal day job workers won't work like that.

IM gurus are not lazy! they were smart, inteligent & hard workers than anyone. That's why they were making such a huge money!

I believe the reason most people believe internet marketing is easy and they can "sit back" and watch it grow is because that's how most marketers are presenting their product or opportunity. Basically they are lying to the customer/prospect to get sales. I believe if you are honest with people and tell them the truth about what it takes to run a successful business online you may get less sales upfront but you will get far better prospects.

Many people who get into Internet Marketing aren't happy with their job.

And for me doing something I'm not passionate or enthusiastic about takes more effort than doing something I enjoy. So I wouldn't say people new to Internet Marketing are lazy either. And neither are people attracted to the promise of "easy riches." That's just part of human nature. Most people want things to be easy but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not willing to work hard.

And remember many of them are already working hard doing something they don't enjoy for comparatively little money.

Certainly it's takes work and discipline to run a successful business but that's partly what makes everything worthwhile. Personally I wouldn't want "easy riches" even if they did exist because I enjoy my success more when I know I've worked for it. People who have built a successful online business have earned their success and worked hard.

All I can say is TRUE THAT. Put in the effort and learn to adapt. You will get there as long as you STICK with a project.

P.S. I also agree that Kobe is the best player in the world :-)

Haha. Exactly. Every time that I talk to someone who wants to get into IM I always tell them to list all of their hobbies...

They always argue that "nobody would want to buy that" so I feel the need to correct them and tell them that they know less than internet marketers
