Article Marketing Strategies for Review Sites

I know there are lots of article marketing related threads out there, but as Google's new algorithm may agree, the most recent information is best!

So... I have a review site. I have a new article written weekly and is posted on it for SEO purposes and to grab some traction from interested buyers. Is it in my best interest to keep the article unique to my site or should it be reposted elsewhere? If so, what would you consider the best places to be (that accept the fact the article is posted elsewhere)?

Thanks as always.

I'd keep a unique version of the article on your site and then rewrite it and use that for article submissions.

Yeah, definitely keep the unique on your own site. There's no benefit in diluting search results by having duplicate content out there. However, even those who scrape your content probably won't hurt it too bad because Google will know

I would also recommend publishing more than one article per week. I know it can be tough to come up with original article ideas and spend the time writing them, but for review products, it shouldn't be too hard to read the sales copy and put your own twist on the idea to make your content original but related.

I'm not sure what your SEO skills are, but you should make sure that your "on page" SEO efforts are paid attention to. That is to say...the structure of your content, related links, headings in the right order, readability, etc.

I've been publishing content online for years and it was only last year that I started to really focus on the structure of my content. Traffic increased almost immediately...not to mention signups and sales

Here's an article on some on page SEO basics, and another on the tool I use to "grade" my SEO writing.

Hope that helps, and I wish you the best of success!

Are you doing this in hopes of getting your review article syndicated?

... either way, I'm not sure it matters how that much. I did fairly well without doing any spinning. Once my article was successfully indexed by Google on MY site, I did a copy and paste of it onto EZ. I made sure to have a resource box that (1). pointed back to my main web site and (2). pointed to a squeeze page where I was giving away a free report in exchange for an opt-in.

Long story, short: I don't think you will see any negative consequence of not spinning your article before placing it into directories.

I've also had success with GoArticles, (after publishing it on my blog, of course).

I found something that might help you:

Can I Submit Same Articles To EzineArticles & Blog?

You would know better than me, but doesn't submitted content on EZ have to be original and only found there?

p.s. Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to know for sure because I might submit a few of my older articles as a test and measure the results

        No problem.

... as far as I know, EZ does not care if your material has been published elsewhere.

Of course, a lot of my knowledge has come from Alexa, and she would know better than me.

All I can ultimately tell you is this: I've been providing EZ with duplicate content of my own unique articles for a while now and have never had a problem. It is being syndicated throughout the web, thus creating MORE duplicate material, and they have yet to send me any notices or the like.

The sole requirement EZA has for previously published content is that the author name you submit the article under must match the author name on the previously published version. If the author names don't match, it brings up questions about who owns the content. Rather than guess, they simply reject.

            Ask yourself this...

If they required original and exclusive submissions, why would they offer a WP plugin to automatically submit blog posts?

Would you be able to tell me the name of that plugin? It would be nice to not have to directly go to EZ to take care of everything.

              Great point!

EZA, like virtually all of the other article directories, don't require exclusive content. You can feel free to submit the same articles to all of them, as long as you're the author.

The only time I tell people to rewrite their content before submitting it to the article directories is if they have a very informal blog. In that case, the writing style of your informal blog is totally different than what you should be publishing on article directories. Sure, articles should be conversational, but they aren't supposed to be as informal as your casual blog. You wouldn't be facing any duplicate content issues if you didn't rewrite the blog posting, but you'd probably find that it didn't perform as well on the article directories as "traditional" articles do.

              +1 Ã-- ∞

It's kind of mind-boggling how (and why) so many people seem to go on assuming by default that EzineArticles, and other directories like them, require unique, never-before-published articles.

You'd have to question exactly what their operators would need to be smoking in order to have such a policy in the first place. Even an article that is unique upon submission wouldn't stay that way for long with the republication licence granted and facilities provided to their users, so what'd be the point?!

(I'm guessing Buzzle's owner(s) had been stung a few too many times by crazed bees to think clearly when its policies were devised. :p)

Well isn't my face red When you put it like that, it makes complete sense. Thanks for dropping the knowledge...most appreciated and about to go test that plugin

<sarcasm>If I am revealing too much, just slap me</sarcasm>, but this is the approach I take on similar sites (and yes, I LOVE product review sites).

    • Original (detailed) review with a personal touch is what I require from my writers to write on the articles that will be published on my site
    • Original review with a different tone for every other authority site with which I am in contact and do allow me to guest blog/review (no matter who what says, you can experience this on your own, authority sites DO REQUIRE unique content, no syndication, no copy paste, no garbage)
    • X amount of original copies that "treat" the subject of the product I am reviewing, but doesn't have to be a product review <-- now this goes rewritten into other copies and also spinned to then be syndicated to those lower level blogs that accept any type of article for the sake of "free content" (easily to identify, every single post of their blog is linking somewhere, or has scraped content from EZA and the like directories)
It does sound like a lot of work, and a nice chunk of investment (obviously I don't do it for every single product I review, but only for those that I know will make it big or to a decent level of popularity) but the benefits are visible (at least to me) = incoming traffic of people interested in that exact same product coming from the authority sites = link from authority site = link & possible traffic from the other sites and directories like EZA and the like = long lasting rankings in the long run.

There is a little twist in between the little procedure that I take tho, so use your creativity and apply it.

Thanks guys and gals. So on your own site it seems like you should have your post original and not posted elsewhere. Then other articles written and individually posted on sites such as Ezines, etc. What if my own site's content was unique but then the article I put in article directories I decide to put the same one in several. Would that work against me?

I don't know, supposedly, Panda only affected 11% of searches (or something like that), while this new one is supposed to affect as much as 35%.

That being said, a specific type of search term is being targeted as well, so who knows?
