plugin for list building

Hi,

I am looking to start building lists of subscribers in various niches but I lack a good looking opt-in form.

I had a few attempts in the past of building lists and the opt-in forms I put on my websites have been manually created by myself in NVU (NVU is an HTML editor that doesn't even exist anymore, I think), and as such the conversions were very poor (like 0.1% or so). The forms looked very ugly indeed, despite the fact that I'd spend half of day creating the forms and link them to my autoresponder account.

Anyway, I would like to take this aspect of IM "to the next level" but to do that I would need a good WP plugin (not very expensive though) that is highly and easily customizable and that creates a striking visual impact (that converts like crazy that is )

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Thank you

There are usually several good-looking landing pages/squeeze pages with built in opt-in forms being given away free to Warriors in the WarRoom.

Hey Annie. It's my second thread that you're replying to in the last week. Thank you

Like I told TopKat22 too, squeeze/landing pages won't do me any good because the 4-5 websites I intend to place the opt-in boxes on are niche blogs with lots of content, so I definitely need opt-in boxes only, that are easily customizable. I spend a lot of time (and get bored of doing it) on picking the right color schemes for the text so it matches my website, and to fit everything (text, images -if any) nicely within a table and then fit the table (with everything that's in it) within the limits of my blog's sidebar.

If only there was an opt-in box in a fixed number of pixels (say 300x300 for example, or 250x250), pre-loaded with lots of colors schemes, and text sizes, colors, etc just to pick one, type in your text, add the image, link the form to the autorepsonder and then add to your website. That would be of so much help.

Oh well, thanks for your suggestions anyway. I will keep looking and see what I find.

NVU is still around it's just called KompoZer now, and is the best free wysiwyg editor perhaps.

I use Aweber, and create my forms with their pretemplated themes to match my sites, or I use the ones included in OptimizePress which is a paid WordPress theme $97. Naturally, you'll still need the code from Aweber or elsewhere to add the code to theme.

There's a warrior here Jenni who created a WordPress plugin called WPSubscribers, it creates multipleopt-in forms, exit, footer, delayed, etc... You may want to look into that as well.

I bought WPSubscribers when it was launched as a WSO, and haven't actually used it on any of my sites yet, but it has some nice prebuilt themes and templates that you can tweak and edit to match your offer/blog/website and position the forms in a multitude of areas on-page, drop-down, and on exit.

I am not a fan of exit pop-ups, but the delayed, footer, and various other methods all seem viable ways to build your list.

I'm sure there are free ones out there, but the above are the ones currently in my toolbox.

    All the Best,

Hey Art, thanks for the detailed reply. I did hear about Kompozer, but I never knew it is one and the same thing with NVU. I will take a look at it later on, but for now, I am only interested in finding a nice opt-in plugin.

I used Aweber in the past but I gave up using it for price reasons, I think. I know it is the best looking AR out there (probably the best in terms of functionality too) but, since I am not a member of it anymore and able to use its pretemplated themes, I have to look somewhere else

Also, Optimizepress is a bit out of my price range at the moment but I will definitely search for Jenni and WPSubscribers. It appears to be exactly what I'm looking for.

      Thanks for the tips.

PS: I am not a big fan of exit pop-ups either. I intend to use the opt-in boxe either in the sidebar or like a footer ad.

What auto responder service are you using? I use aweber and they give me lots of options for good looking opt in boxes.

Or you can just use a squeeze page that has one on it already.

      Hello

I use TrafficWave and I intend to stick with it. I know how great AWeber is (I was a member of it about 2 years ago when I was trying various programs and IM tools) but like I said, I will stick with TW. Why exactly I'll stick with TW, I can't say for sure, but I just will

Also, a squueze page may not be a good solution for me at this moment because I intend to place the opt-in forms on my niche websites, which look more like blogs than squeeze pages.

But anyway, thanks for the idea. It might prove to be good for my future websites.

      Thanks

I also use Aweber. It's not cheap, particularly if you have a large list but it's easy to use and is great for Wordpress. I like the reporting, split testing and the ability to link it with Facebook/Twitter too.

I know Aweber is not cheap (that's one of the reasons I gave up using it) but I also know it has some awesome templates

Yeah, I agree Aweber has some good templates but they are becoming pretty strict with what you can do with your list.
I just use templates I bought from lpdesigner dot com and copy html and css to whatever wordpress page I need. Not that difficult if you know some html.

I recently discovered a nice approach to optin form layout. You write a message on behalf of a user as if they were contacting you and insert fields where they would enter their info. Like:
    "Hello,
I am interested in your product. Please send me more info. My name is ____. You can email me at ____." etc etc you get the idea.
I'm not sure what they call this method. I haven't tried this myself but I heard this works very well.

I just tried to access lpdesigner but it returns a blank page. I will keep accessing it though.

As for this new idea you mentioned, sorry but I don't understand what you mean

Never mind anyway, I just created a template manually in NVU yesterday and I am pretty impressed with how it looks like. I will use it on all of my websites (modified with the sites' unique info obviously)

      Thanks for your suggestions
