Building Email List (Which is more preferable?)

Guys, I've got a question.

I'm looking to start building my list through WSO.

Which do you think is a better idea?

1) Automatically getting the buyer's email when they click "Buy Now" using WSO Pro

OR

2) Directing them to a "Thank You" Page after they've clicked "Buy Now" where they need to opt-in their Name and Email before they can access the WSO.

    First one works but you might get more cancellations than second one.

      What do you mean by get more cancellations? What if the WSO is free and the sole purpose of giving it away is just to get their emails?

      And if I go for the 1st option, will I get their Names and emails or just the emails?

        I'd say you let them know that is why your WSO valued at ... is being given away free. If I was forced to opt-in for instance, I would unsubscribe almost immediately.

          So in this case, i should let them know beforehand within the sales page that, in order to access the WSO, they need to opt-in their name and email first?

            I think so. It sounds more ethical to me. Of course you should be prepared for those who will opt-in, get your free WSO and opt-out immediately. But most will stay with you unless your content is crap

    Personally I would be happy with the first one as you know they will be interested in further information. The second option they will have to think twice maybe delaying any further response.

    The first one. Always use the method that allows your customers to do the least work.

    Then make sure to offer something very valuable to your list immediately and let them know what else is coming in the future of value to them so they stay on your list.

    Since we are talking about the free WSO, first option would be better... but, if you do your job perfectly and "sell" your free WSO to visitors, I think they will be more than happy to follow the second option too... of course, you have to be sure you are providing them with a solid and valuable content because if you not, there will be nothing easier for them to unsubscribe no matter what method you are using...
