My website has identical content on the "home" page and the "about us" page. Is this good/bad for SEO?

    BAD...

    That's the definition of duplicate content, identical content on the same domain...

      Yes, I agree. It is seen as duplicate content. Perhaps splitting the pages up a spreading the content over each and linking between to the two - if you don't fancy re-writing everything to be unique. That's what I would do with the situation.

    Why would you do that? Don't you know that Google Panda is on the prowl? Having sites with poor content for breakfast?

    In short, you should try to keep content on ALL pages of your site unique and different in its own way. Say NO to duplicate content.

    Solution: What you can do is - work on the content you have on the 'About Us' page and make it more detailed.

    No, don't rewrite what's already written, but re-purpose it. Make it unique - as simple as that!
