Creating my own product - best guides/mentors?

Hi Warriors,

I'm very excited to let everyone know that after some serious consideration I'm planning to create my first product. I have researched a niche, it's a niche that I have some experience in so that will help.

The problem is I have hit a brick wall, I'm honestly not sure where to start and I really want to make sure that this venture succeeds. Seeing that this will be my first product I have been looking around and I think the best option would be for me to purchase a Product Creation Guide or maybe even find a mentor/coach.

I'm looking for a guide to use as a blueprint, so that I have some guidance while starting this journey.

So my question is, has anyone here created their own product and what guide/product would you recommend to someone who is about to create their first product?

Looking forward to your feedback, this is very exciting!!

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for your input and that basic layout. A video course is a good idea and it can be incorporated, but the main product would be a pdf.

I think the reason why I'm looking to purchase a guide to get me through the process is just so I have a plan that I can follow, and I'm sure it will help with ideas as to naming the product, sales funnel creation, promotion etc.

Ok I would recommend making a video course, or perhaps a pdf ebook, I could help you a lot more if I knew what niche you were going to make your product about.

If it was in the make money online field I would recommend making a wso since you will have a good customer base already and you would just have to worry about making a good product instead of having to do that and looking for targeted traffic.

Either way will work though. So I recommend making your product, website, and sales funnel- meaning a sales page ---> which leads to a payment page (clickbank or paypal) ---> which leads to an opt in page (which will be buyers ) --> which leads to a download/thank you page. So once you finish your product, make the websites (sales funnel) then start looking for traffic.

    Best of luck!
    Mike

You can offer both a PDF and video for your product. I also recommend adding a few bonuses which can be some good resale rights products related to your niche.

You can offer it as a WSO, or sell on your own website that's up to you.
I strongly recommend having an upsell so that you can earn more sales.

You can offer the pdf as the main product and the video as the upsell or if your in the IM niche you can offer resell rights as the upsell.

The most important part is to add customers to your buyers list for future sales. This is the best way to build a solid business from your sales.

    Okay, Mellisa...

Here's something I do from time to time. Forget about product creation for a minute and consentrate on selling the finished product. Yep, selling it.

To sell your product you're going to need a sales letter. So sit down and write one. And if that's too much, start with writing an outline for a really killer sales letter.

Don't be too formal. Start by just getting lots of ideas on the page. Keep recording them as long as they're coming. As you do this you're going to find your creative juices flowing. You're going to want this product to be really great and the ideas you come up with for your sales pitch are going to have to reflect that.

Get it all down and then put it aside for a day or so. Then go through it again and make adjustments as needed.

Guess what? You now have the blueprint for your actual product. Once you've created an outline for your sales material and you've actually envisioned the creation to be a superstar of a product, take the sales letter (or outline) and use it to actually create the product. Lots of marketers do this but would never admit it. Good luck.

I think it's all about the outline. The phases of creating a product for me are creating the outline, adding the content, and cleaning it up into a final version.

The ideas for the outline, which includes all of the chapters, subchapters, and points you want to make within each of those, will come from your sales letter and existing knowledge of customers and their unspoken needs, a short 10 question survey you send to your list or someone's similar list asking them what their challenges are and demographics, etc., and also drawing ideas from the top 3 to 5 products of competitors in your niche.

This is the design phase and will take some time to hammer it out, but once it's done then it is just a matter of writing or dictating all that you know about the topic following the outline and then have someone edit it, add graphics and covers, etc., and you're good to go.
