New to IM, looking for advice and networking.

My name is Mike and I'm currently in college and began working on my own internet marketing business this past summer. I have worked very hard at it since then and have really developed a passion for it. I currently am capable of netting around $50 a day for around 3 hours of work. My only problem is that I'm not building anything up. It will not improve further from that and am working on starting up a business that builds on itself, starting from the base up. I have familiarized myself with basic SEO techniques and strategies, adsense, keyword research, clickbank, email marketing, list building, lead generation, cpc, ppc, and numerous social media channels. I have spent long hours teaching myself and am absolutely determined to succeed online. I have come a long way from losing money initially to finally being able to generate income. I would love the opportunity to network with other warrior members on here or linked in. I know there are a lot of successful internet marketers on here and would love to learn and gain insight and possibly share stories. Message me or reply to the thread I would love to hear from you!

I'm pretty much in the same place you are, know enough to get into a little trouble and make a little money. Now looking for a mentor to guide me the rest of the way and make me a success story.

Yep similar position here. One challenge is that there is just so much to learn about Internet marketing, that it can get a bit overwhelming and you don't know where to start. You guys had any luck with finding mentors?

Twin Dragon and Jie Lim: Thanks for the reply, maybe we can help each other out!

JCorp: I completely agree. I've always felt that focusing on one thing and making it great creates a lot more value than just being ok at many things. I appreciate the response and would love to keep in contact!

Sallygriffin: I will definitely contact you, thank you for the reply!

Rich Mag: I'm actually from Syracuse originally. I agree, finding one offer and focusing on marketing that seems like a great idea and a much more efficient use of time. Btw I see you are The Military Marketer. If you are marketing to individuals in the military I have a great product you can market to them that I am currently an affiliate of. Message me for details.

feetwins: I really appreciate the support. I would love to get in touch with you as you seem to be well versed in the field. If you wouldn't mind mentoring me a little bit I would really appreciate it!

Welcome and any success, no matter how small, is success nonetheless. It's time to focus what you've learned so far to 1 or 2 main strategies and scale it up from there...

    Hey Mike,
It looks like you have a pretty good grasp on things so I dont have much advice. The only thing I have that I tell most new folks is this:

Find something/anything that you feel you can make money with (offering a service, Affiliate Marketing, CPA, etc.) and stick to it for a while. DO NOT jump from one program to the next. You wont be successful that way. In other words, try to avoid the "Shiney New Object Syndrom".

Great way to describe that common mistake... jumping around from one method to another. LOL.

But yeah - Mike, you sound like you are completely on the right track. Netting about $50/day is great! And your confidence and attitude to push yourself further will certainly get you expanding and growing more in your business. You sound like you've got what it takes to make it as you've already taken action and have seen the rewards... now you just need to find a way to think outside of the box and grow further. Biggest thing is to not overwhelm yourself with too much at once. Set daily goals - perhaps find a new project that you can focus on and stick with it. Daily action and persistence will get you to that next level.

      Take care,
      Elizabeth

I learned a lot from reading posts on forums and interacting with others. Developing friendships was really good for my business. Like I was posting so much, I was made a Moderator on a busy forum and a hosting company gave me a dedicated box for a link in my signature. 9 years later, still have the box and when I meet up with their reps, we always go out and have fun.

I know where you're coming from mike34, TwinDragon, JieLim. Every rich entrepreneur started at this point.

I can remember the first time I turned 15 cents into $17 on a Click Bank offer. I felt that I was onto something and realized that it only happened once. I let the campaign run for another day and then decided that it wasn't worth it. So immediately, I cut it loose and move on to something bigger... and bigger it was.

The spree went on from 500, to 800, 1000, 2000, 3000 to eventually a 10k barrier. I remembered saying to my wife that, "sweetheart, we're not going to settle for anything less than 10k a month, since we've here."

Frankly it wasn't easy, staying at 10k a month is a stretch for me, to a point of overwhelm. Thankfully I had coach who helped me navigate the rapids towards the things that really mattered to me, and where I was most profitable.

Here's a suggestion for ya! Let's do a bit of math based on what you wanted a business model that builds on itself.

Disclaimer: This is a simplistic approach to the problem as I do not fully know your actual conditions.

What you currently have can be build on itself.

    You're netting $50 a day - I'm guessing that's a conservative amount.

    $50/day x 30 days = $1,500 / month for 3 hours of work.
    $50/ day x 30 days = $3,000 / month for 6 hours of work.
    $50/ day x 30 days = $9,000 / month for 9 hours of work

You probably can't work 9 hours per day and go to school at the same time right?

So why not outsource someone to work 6 to 9 hour per day for you for like $500-$800
    a a month?

    You'd net around $8,000.

There are people in ASIA who can build the business for you, the cost of training someone is well worth the pay off. This is the secret sauce of many successful marketers. The nationality is the only thing that differs.

If you don't want to outsource - work with a dorm buddy or your best friend.
Agree that both of you spend 4.5 hours per day working on the business and split the profits evenly.

Bottom line: Leverage your time and effort so you can focus on school or have enough to ditch it - so mom and dad. But hey, a degree is a good fall back and business sustenance.

Behavior is great indicator. I can see more potential for you in leveraging what you know. You have more gold in you than you realize.

Keep going mike34... and TwinDragon... and JieLim.

My 2 cents for any business. Pick niches or strategies you are passionate about. Otherwise there's a good chance you will burnout and not enjoy what you are doing. Second, even if it's IM, try to go out and network in the "real world". You can form a local Meetup group with other IM people, join a local marketing trade group etc. It may sound a bit old fashioned, but it is often much easier to build quicker bonds face-to-face. You may even be able to find a more experienced person who would be willing to take you under their wings in a group like this.

First of all, very well done making $50 a day. $1500 a month is something very many people are still working towards.

In every business I have ever created, online or offline, when I'm in the beginning stages, I work to not set something up to do in the beginning that I will not be able to do when I'm as big as I plan to be.

I believe this has helped me a lot because I already plan for scalability right from the beginning.

If you are making $50 a day, there are some successful actions you are doing to make that happen (if it is consistent). Identify those things and increase them, by working more hours or outsourcing the tasks (or outsourcing other tasks to that you have more time to scale it up.)

If you want to network, follow my on twitter, facebook or skype me. It is all in my profile.

    Hi Mike,

You didn't mention who your target audience is - the people you are going to help with your products and services.

Without this, it is very hard to help.

I always say that slow and steady is the way to go.

Don't rush or you will never really get anywhere but if you just buckle down stick to one thing a year from now you will say "yep slow and steady"

      Just my opinion.

That's great that you've moved into $50 a day territory in this relatively short period of time. If I were you, I'd stay on track and keep finding ways to simplify things if possible. As someone else has suggested, teaming up with someone else may be the answer to earning more without burning yourself out. I hope your business keeps doing well!
