Someone Wants To Buy Link On My Site, Need Warriors Opinions

One of my websites is doing very well, and has a #3 position for a keyword that gets 74,000 searches a month.

I have a vast network of sites, and this is the first time I've had someone ask to buy a link on one of them.

They have an insurance site and are willing to pay $75 for 6 months for a do-follow link on the home page that can be anywhere in the sidebar.

The site is PR3 and gets around 200 visitors a day.

My question to everyone is do you think it's worth it? Will it negatively effect my site having 1 do follow link, or should I try to negotiate a higher price.

Thanks,
Ryan

I think purchasing paid links is becoming more common. I've had several requests in the last few months.

I've accepted some, when they are relevant and take the reader to non-spammy, legitimate sites. I think some larger organisations are paying companies to set up backlink campaigns for them. One was a large, national supermarket. I don't see how a link to their site could negatively affect my site.

I didn't bother to negotiate - I just accepted what I was offered and looked on it as a little extra pin money. I didn't put the links anywhere that would take a visitor away from a sales link of my own.

Edited to add: Be aware of the scammers. I've had that too. The legitimate ones will send you the link and text. You can see if the link is legitimate. The scam ones will ask you to download something (one was a wordpress plug-in) or direct you to a fake website.

Don't worry about payment in advance. If they don't pay, just remove the link!
