Where to Sell a Domain Name?

Hi all,

I've got a domain name that I think might be worth something (homebusinessforbeginners.com) and was wondering where to sell it?

I've heard good things about sitepoint, but where am I likely to get the most cash for it?

I've never sold one. How do you know what it's worth, and how long do you hold off to know your getting a good price?

I have used Sedo.com numerous times. They offer a brokerage service, auction and selling service.

domaintools.com is having an auction for domains in Feb. 21. So check it out: Domain Tools: Whois Lookup and Domain Suggestions. (I think the correct address is Aftermarket.com - Buy and Sell Domain Names).

Just another quick question, as I also have some domains I need to unload...

I've seen that many sites offer a free appraisal, but does anyone know if these are trustworthy? Or would I be better off getting a paid appraisal?

Before you get down to the hard work necessary to sell your domain name, you'll need to place some kind of value on it (even if you are not going to publicize the value you've placed on a domain name, it's important to know what the minimum amount you'd accept for it is.)

There are essentially two main ways to sell a domain name: you can find a buyer yourself, or you can use a company/organization to find a buyer on your behalf.

If you choose a domain name broker (site or service that assists you in finding a buyer for your domain name, many of the previous posts have listed Go Daddy and it is pretty good) that does not demand exclusivity, you can even combine both types of sales strategy i.e. list your domain name for sale with the broker, and at the same time solicit buyers independently. Hope this helps!
