suggestion for mass-importing text-files into Wordpress?

Hey there,

I've got a bunch of articles which I'd now like to mass-import into Wordpress.

did some Googling, some solutions make you convert them into .csv files, the problem there are the line-breaks.

Ideally, I'd like to keep the MS Word docs as they are and just pull them in, if necessary I can save them as .txt files.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Cheers

Veit

Are all of them in same file or each of them is in separate file ? Actually it depends on how many articles you have and how they are. If not too many hire someone to do the job from you . You can try to find people in odesk who will do it very cheaply . Per hour may be at $2+

they are in different files, so I'll be hiring someone anyway to put them into a new format.

But: creating individual posts takes far longer than copy&paste into one big .csv/whatever file (or even better: having a tool to pull it all in).

and as I'm talking about hundreds of pieces of content, I'd rather automate it.

      Cheers

How about replacing the line breaks in your document with "LINEBREAK" (something that is guaranteed unique), exporting them to CSV, importing them, and then do a search and replace on all imported articles and replace "LINEBREAK" back to line breaks?

If you need to import like this regularly, you may want to find a cleaner solution, but it might work for now.

Could you just put them as pdfs? Or combine them into a pdf package? then upload. Or do you need to edit them?

no, PDF is no good, I want to create SEO'd articles for my sites.
Sure, uploading the PDFs to content storage sites is a great idea, but for now, the main purpose is to populate a new blog with a few hundred articles quickly

I use a plugin titled review plugin for wordpress to do mass importing. It has treated me well, but does have a few small issues that you need to learn to work through.
