If you had a little experience and $1,000...

That's me.

A little experience and $1,000.

I have been floundering for too long now, and need to get my butt in gear.

I want to jump into affiliate marketing - but am undecided between physical products or digital (Clickbank) stuff.

I would like to drive traffic with PPC, and am very comfortable with opt-in landing pages (squeeze pages), and auto-responders.

Here is where I am struggling...

There are several products on CB that look good to me... but what I am unsure of, is a way to quickly select and test one of them. By doing my research here, and from a little of my own experience, the way to go is select a product, build a squeeze page, and then sell with an AR campaign.

But what I am wondering is, how much do you all spend to figure out if something is working or not, and how much time do you give it?

While I have $1,000 for now - I don't have a lot of time. So I would need to outsource the SP, and the AR stuff - and use PPC to drive traffic.

Maybe someone can give me some pointers or some metrics/benchmarks to know if I am on the right track?

Little experience and affiliate marketing don't go together well.

I suggest you get 2 or 3 small AdSense earning websites and learn by working on them. Nothing can be done over night.

You'll get motivation because of the AdSense earnings and when you think you have enough knowledge you simply sell the websites and start by PPC campaigns or what ever you'll want to get yourself into.

Daniel - thanks for the tip - sage advice for sure... interestingly enough, the majority of money I had/have coming in from all my IM efforts is from a "test" batch of adsense sites I set up 2 years ago. For the last year they have been pulling in about $500/month steadily until some unknown recent change tanked my earnings.

I like the adsense model, and obviously it's worked for me, but I find I am more drawn to the affiliate model - particularly the ability to pick a product, put up sales funnel (capture system + autoresponders), and then work on buying traffic to send to it.

I am just looking for some advice on how best to spend the $1,000 that I have right now - as well as some metrics to help me evaluate success (like how much money to test, how much time, etc.)

Using adsense, unless he is getting MASSIVE amounts of
traffic and clicks. It wouldn't be worth it. What will $2.00
a month an adsense earnings do for him.

In my opinion, adsense is not meant for fresh marketers. Although it is simple to implement, it takes a lot of traffic to make a decent income from it which in turn takes some time and planning.

You already have a plan which works well for clickbank products - making a sales funnel and follow ups. Just make sure that your squeeze page converts well. some research about your target market will help you in this.

The main thing is about driving traffic. If you are new to buying traffic and PPC, choose less competitive niches and track everything to find out what works and which keyword convert well. You have to be extra careful with adwords though, they don't like thin sites.

What is a good amount to allot for testing a product/niche in a less competitive market using adwords/adcenter for traffic generation?

Have to agree... I tried around 5 adsense sites... 3 bring in around $11 a month, combined... and I did put a lot of time and money into these, article's written, backlinking services....

I finally started making money with amazon... it works. made just under $1000 last month, 90% from one site.

Amazon isn't rocket science, so I think it's good for beginners.

I recommend investing around $100 - $150 in courses, there's lots on here, I did Jan Rooses, it's very good.

After you know what you're doing and what works....

        Around $100 on quality articles.

& around $150 on good backlinking services.

Some of your sites may bring in a few hundred, some $1,000+... it's a modern day gold rush

There's lots of advice on here that THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST.... and I'm sure there is... but, I think it's a bit more advanced than amazon... best start off with what works.... the need for good physical products is not going anywhere... well, actually demand is only increasing!

        Hope this helps.

I wouldn't suggest you spend a dime until you have more knowledge.

There are way too many things people regret doing when they had little experience and little knowledge.

This current thread goes over that. I suggest you read this post to see what others say that they regret so that you may be able to avoid some pitfalls yourself.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-im-again.html

I suggest you read more and learn more.

I also suggest you build a list and then promote clickbank or anything else to them.

Since you know how to set up a squeeze page and use an auto responder you are ahead of the list building game there a bit.

TopKat22 - I appreciate it... I have been reading and studying for a very long time now. My problem is not so much inaction, but more the confidence to pick something and go for it.

I will DEFINITELY read that thread. And I would appreciate any other advice you can give me!

Ettienne - what kind of success have you had with this method? And how much time per week do you spend on it? It looks interesting...

    hey snake

you not really experienced and have $1000 to put into
    your business.

you should start with affiliate marketing and one person I've
learned the most from when it comes to affiliate marketing is Ewen Chia.
he is an Affiliate Marketing Master.

you need to check out his super affiliate training website below
    Ewen Chia's Super Affiliate Trainer!

in the emails and in the backoffice he gives you step by step videos
on What is Affiliate Marketing - To becoming a Super Affiliate

He is also has his products in the backoffice you could promote.
Ewen gives you the emails, banners, everything you need to make
    money promoting his products.

Also Ewen has PLR (Private Label Rights) products you can buy and
put your name and payment button on there and make 100% of the
    income.

So if i were you just go threw the affiliate marketing training and when
your done. You will know the right direction to go and how to use the $1000 you have.

    hope that helps

Great info - I am going to check that out for sure. I am not too interested in the IM niche though... I'd like to stay away from it, but I'm sure the info you're talking about will give me a good idea of how to get going?

I think I have all the basics down - and have created SP's, and AR's, etc. just looking for some help with how best to proceed with my limited resources right now...

you can try multiple streams of income you can build small seo'ed blogs using squidoo hubpages blogger weebly scribed etc then purchase a ton of backlinks for them on fiverr you could start a facebook fanpage get 1-5 cent clicks and then promote an offer relative to what your fanpage has to offer .. Adsense is a slow way to make money use these free web 2.0 properties to make review blogs then rank them use youtube video screencasts to review products then rank them by purchasing backlinks from fiverr

    Hi Snakebite,

when you say "comfortable with creating squeeze pages" - do you mean the technical part, or do you have any experience in creating CONVERTING offers?

From your question, I doubt that, and let me give you an advice - 1000 USD for PPC evaporates like nothing.

As one of the previous posters said, Adsense is also not something I would focus on.

Another Idea: You say you have little time and 1000 bucks. Think of services that can be outsourced. Create a nice webpage. Use the 1000 bucks to a) "offline-market" these services to companies, and b) to pay the freelancers to do the job for you before you get your first payment.

    Cheers,

Interesting... the offline model does appeal to me.

What do you think it would take in PPC spend to do what I want to do with affiliate marketing, list building, etc.?
