Stupid Squeeze page Question!

I didn't know where else to ask this...!!! After I have made a squeeze page how do I make it active? Do I just get a domain name and point it to the page...if so where is the page situated? i know this seems a dumb question but i cant seem to get my head around it. Can i build a squeeze page in Wordpress easily...so far this seems to be a bit tricy. Hope you can help me and understand my question. Thanks in advance...Allan

How did you build the squeeze page you've got already? In HTML? If so, then get a domain and hosting, move that HTML file to the root of that domain and name it index.html. When people hit your domain, that page will load.

The WordPress question can be a LONG one Yes, you can make squeeze pages in WordPress...you can do it with a simple default page, post, etc. AND there are also a ton of great WordPress-squeeze page-related tools out there.

I use Premise for all my landing pages...squeeze pages, thank you, video optin, etc...

your question is a bit vague and that is probably due to your lack of understanding of how this all works.

so relax, you are in a good place to get some help. basically, you need a web host account. This is just a place where you can put your files online so that other people can view them.

you also mention wordpress. wordpress is what they call a cms "content management system" wordpress also needs you to have a hosting account to install the script on.

incidentally, most web hosts have a 1-click install option for wordpress to help get you started.

    hope this helps.

feel free to ask follow up questions.

First of all, the only stupid question is the one that is not asked! Secondly, a squeeze page is just like a sales page, only shorter, so once you got your domain name and hosting, you just upload your page via ftp. You need a hosting service in order to transfer your pages to the web.

You also need an FTP client to transfer your files from your computer to your web host. You can get a free ftp client such as filezilla, core ftp etc. just do a search on google for free ftp and you'll find one. your host will provide you with the information you need to set up your FTP client.

ok, i think i understand. you mean where do you put it on the server so it shows up to people.

lets try this example. lets say you want your squeeze page to show up at this url.

www.youdomain.com/freegift.html (or .php if its a dynamic page)

for most web hosting accounts you would name your html squeeze page "freegift.html" then upload it to your root directory.

for most hosting accounts this is "public_html"

if you wanted to put your squeeze page in a folder like this.
          www.yourdomain.com/freegift/

you would create a folder in your "public_html" directory named "freegift"

then rename your squeeze page "index.html" and upload it into your "freegift" folder.

            Correct.

Your domain name serves as a large house.

So let's say your domain is called Mount.com and your squeeze page is called "page.htm"

In order for someone to access your squeeze page, you would first have to put the squeeze page into the domain.

Once that's done, you could type in Mount.com/page.htm and that would take you to your squeeze page.
You use FileZilla to transfer documents, or in this case, your squeeze page to your hosting so it becomes available to the entire world.

It works just like how your files are organized on your computer. Just play around with it and I'm sure you'll understand it.

It would help immensely if you told us where your squeeze page currently is.

Is it sitting on your PC?

Have you created it as a page on one of your existing sites?
