Hey all,

Hope everyone is doing well. I have a curious question I would like to ask. Is it legal for someone to copy a video from youtube itself and re-upload it to youtube without claiming it is theres.

For example, let's say there was a review on a Sony TV currently on youtube made by an individual, and say I was to download it then re-upload it to youtube under the same or different keyword. Providing I didn't claim it as being my video, would that be fine? Or would that be classed as Copyright Infringement? I look forward to hearing back from you all. Thanks in advance.

If the content is copyrighted by a major corporation that has legal power, then yes, you could get in trouble doing that. Unless you get massive traffic to it there is a slim chance of anything happening to you, but it is possible.

If it's not copyrighted then downloading, tweaking, and re-uploading should not be a prob. People do that all the time.

Best wishes, and may the force be with you.

Youtube can detect most duplicate video uploads by using the meta data as well as the video length, audio, and the imagery itself. If you are uploading a lot of duplicates, eventually your account will be banned.
