Default Ideas on Selling Fuel Device Online

Hey Warriors --

I've been working to create a website that will sell this product effectively, and I am stuck. Over 250 clicks on my ads and no sales.

The only thing I can think is that my website format is not working.

Please take a look and comment where you can.

http://www.SaveMoneyOnHomeHeating.com

I'd love to fix this baby up and see it convert, but until then, I'm bit stuck.

Thank you all for your help!! Any comments are welcome. I've got tough skin.

Hey Casey,

Not a bad product! I don't see why something like this wouldn't convert well with some tweaks to your sales page. Everyone wants to save money these days!

My first impression was that I wasn't attracted to the offer because it didn't have a header to visually represent want you product can do. In fact your lack of website graphics made it feel a little gimmicky.

I would strongly suggest getting a header on there that symbolizes "saving money on your gas bill". This one thing should increase conversions alone.

As I skimmed your page the first thing I notice was that huge obnoxious buy button. I would tone that way down. People aren't blind! - No offense

The other thing that stumbled me was the ordering. I bet people are giving up at this point. You should make it more clear that it's $197 each. In other words put the price next to each buy button.

I know you have it displayed in the drop down menu but make it more clear. And get rid of that "order 2" arrow. For a second I though I couldn't order just 1. Maybe others are confused by this as well.

Something that would work well for this kind of product would be a comparison between the prospects other options if they want to save money on gas. I know you touched on it a bit but I would elaborate on it a bit more and maybe add some stat charts that show a decrease in gas consumption. I don't know? Make something in your face that shows visually how much gas you can save over time. - Just a thought.

Other than that I think with a little better visual presentation this could be a real winner!

Nice work!

I think you ought to test with and without a header.

Buy buttom is obnoxious

Good photos

You might also test placement of the testimonials. They are impressive. I would move them closer to the top, before a smaller buy now button.

Also, you might take a look at your web stats. How long are pople staying on your page.

I would like to see a bigger, bolder guarantee.

You might even consider changing the sales page to tell a story about how you discovered this technology and how it has worked for you.

Please allow me to say something without getting offended.

I'm sorry, but when I look at this product, it screams 'scam' from the rooftops.

Here's an article that explains more about this. I admit it doesn't directly relate to what you're doing, but it's close enough for me.

Fuel saving gadgets - a professional engineer's view

I suspect others are seeing it that way too.

If your product works as you claim, you're going to need real 'thud factor' proof it works to overcome the resistance. Testimonials won't cut it (savings could have come from declining price of fuel), you need research papers and US Government findings of fact.

I'd start by submitting the product to the EPA, the FTC, MIT, and anyone else who can do the appropriate research to back up your claims, and pronto.

Like I said, I'm not trying to bash you, I'm trying to help in as positive a manner as possible. Right now, the product has all the appearance of snake oil, and that won't convert no matter what you do.

Floyd - thanks for the honesty. That's the biggest problem I'm facing - the scam mentality.

What I can say is that the product is backed by a US Patent, comes with a 365-Day Satisfaction Guarantee, and I have degree-day comparisons of manufacturing facilities (Kellogg, Delphi, fruit dryers) as well as apartment complexes, ice arenas and schools that have all used my product.

Based on their fuel consumption and the difference in degree days, we're finding that they save a minimum of 10% on their fuel bills. The larger claims are true, too. I cannot guarantee a savings above 10%, but I am very certain that it happens more often than not.

After looking deeper into the link you provided, I've seen the claims that these companies are making - massive reductions in automobile gas use(27%!), reduction in emission (43%), etc. These are not possible and I too do not agree with them.

However, I can back up these products that I am selling. The algorithm that we use to calculate savings over a time period are open for anyone to look at. The information comes directly from the gas company. There is no changing of any numbers. And when you know exactly how much fuel an ice arena uses every summer to keep it's sheets frozen, or exactly how many pounds of cherries were dried over a specific time, with a specific degree day measurement, you can then calculate the savings without error.

I hope that you can see that this product is different than the rest. The guarantee plus it's use all over the US on major facilities speaks volumes. The tens of thousands of dollars we're saving schools should be proof enough.

Thanks for the help

I'm with Floyd on this one. Not because I'm a sceptic, but because I have some experience in designing a product that is the very same as this product.

In fact, I can't find a patent on this product that shows your supplier has one. That doesn't mean they don't, but I hold several US patents and I know how to find one if there is one. Big red flag here. And btw, Design Patents are worthless. If you find the only Patent they have is a Design Patent, run.

In the mid '90 I was involved with testing these devices and can tell you that the science behind it is as much voodoo as it is manipulation of theory. Unless some new scientific evidence has been produced since then, I would be very wary of getting too deep into building a business around a product like this.

I am aware of certain aspects of how a magnet can alter the characteristics of a liquid, but in reading your sales letter there is a definite disconnect between what my experience working on these things is and what your claims are. And no, I am not an authority in this field, I only have the experience of being part of an R+D team whose job it was to take a product like this out of folk lore and give it some real world application.

Unfortunately, marketing is still light years ahead of any real benefits these devices can be proved to produce. Testimonials? Don't go into a court of law hoping those will save your butt.

I still wish you personal success, I just wished you'd picked a better product.

I would create a nice header and also you need some testimonials with pictures of real people. You have to get people to see that there are others that have purchased from you. A video wouldn't hurt either and address the scam by explaining the scams that are out there and why your product is not a scam. You could also try some different landing pages, some shorter some longer. Constantly be trying new things till you find what works.
