Camtasia? How about Pinnacle?

I use both camtasia and pinnacle. What's

I use both too. They compliment each other nicely.

I use Pinnacle Ultimate, and find it excellent for video editing and output. I tend to create AVI files and then convert them to Flash flv files using FlixPro. The benefit of using FlixPro, rather than an automated conversion program is that you have much more control over the encoding parameters.

I find automatic converters make too many (incorrect) assumptions about my end users.

Camtasia is excellent for screen recording. I know it does more, but I tend to use Pinnacle for the other stuff. If you want to record what you are doing on screen for any kind of tutorial, then there is nothing else that comes close to Camtasia IMHO. I have tried so many free and cheaper alternatives, but there is always something lacking with them.

Well that's my input for what it's worth. I think you've made good choices Gary.

    Cheers

    Kate

Camtasia is great for screen recording BTW: if you don't have a copy yet, you can get one for free from Techsmith offers free Camtasia Studio download - Download Squad This is Camtasia 3, which means some of the newer features are not available, but you can upgrade to the latest version (5) for half price.

I used to have Pinnacle 9, and found it a bit limited. Don't know what the latest version is like. I have Serif MoviePlus on my home computer and find it a lot more flexible. Not quite a good as Avid, but a lot cheaper.
