I've used Thesis for more than 2 years exclusively on all WordPress sites I build for myself and for clients.

To get the best out of it you do need some coding knowledge, but the support is top notch and they have a great user's guide with tutorials being added all the time.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

never heard about Thesis will check it out, as far as Genesis my friend told me he had issues to validate the code, but i never tried it myself, from what you saying it sounds like it worth the $60

I wouldn't go for Thesis since the child themes for business & offline sites aren't much. I would go with StudioPress for sure.

Great choice in using a framework. There are a small number of good frameworks. If you are a designer, you should only be working with a framework and child theme... its just good WP design.

I use Pagelines PlatformPro (they are about to release a version 2) and have really liked it.

That said, the most popular are probably Thesis, Genesis, Headway and Thematic. There are other interesting ones too like Pagelines, Starkers, Whiteboard, Carrington, etc... Some are free, some are not. The paid ones all have pretty vibrant support communities.

Either way, the real bonus is the amazing features you can get using hooks instead of coding directly into the theme and the other bonus of being able to upgrade the theme without breaking your site (running on a child theme) which is really fantastic...
