Can I publish someone else's content?

1. I have a few posts by other authors that I would like to publish on my own blog.

Can I just publish them (or post them on my blog) and link back to the source (the original source) from my blog?

As long as I give credit and link back, It should not be a problem. right?

2. Would this be considered duplicate content?

3. Would this adversely/negatively affect my blog?

4. What is the best way to do this?

5. Should I just link to the images to his site? or take the images and host them on my server so that I don't take up his bandwidth?

I don't think it's allowed to publish it elsewhere unless the author say beforehand that you can do it.

    Hi James,

it's not that easy. Most bloggers won't mind it as long as you provide a link back, but legally it can be problematic.

It's "common practice" to quote a small portion of the blog post, and then provide a link to the author's original post.

    2. I'd say yes, the link back won't help much.
    5. That's called "hotlinking" and bad practice, as you are "stealing" his bandwidth with that.

    Cheers,

Very true but i think still you will get good amount of traffic to your website which have small portion of the blog post. If you are targeting traffic then surly you should add unique and quality blog posting portions...

It seems one of the revelations to new marketers that often surprise them is that you can't just take and use any content or images you like.

Read up on the basics of copyright and trademark so you have an idea of what is and isn't permitted. It will save you hassle (and maybe money) going forward.

No, not unless you get permission. Otherwise it is considered stealing. If you find it on EZA, then sure. From their websites, no. You could email them and ask and they may be okay with it though.

There is a difference between duplicate content and syndicated content. Duplicate content is having the same article on your own domain more than once.

Only if you steal the content since they can contact your host and get your site shut down.

Ask permission and find out what kind of links they would like.

Once again, something to talk to them about when you ask for permission.
