Which marketers email lists are the best to learn and emulate from, for email marketing?

You can certainly learn from any of the top email marketers, but don't emulate them. You want to develop your own style and let your personality show through your emails.

You could subscribe to say ten lists and just see which ones send emails that stand out and make you want to read them and to check out what they are offering. Those are the ones you can probably learn the most from.

For email marketing, I'd say to sign up to a bunch of people and see whose style you like - everyone's different. For instance, I have a personal "favorites" list whose mails I love reading, but some other folks might not like my favorites.

As for emulating, I think you should focus on developing your own style and tone. You need to stand out from the crowd, and emulating someone means a subscriber looks at your mails and thinks "same old, same old". Of course, you can pick up some tips and tricks from an email "swipe file" but that's the extent of it.

Look for marketers doing things similar to what you are doing. I am on a handful of lists but there are very few I read regularly.

One thing I do is subscribe to a lot of email lists on my extra email account and just click ones with an attention grabbing headline and look at why it grabbed my attention.
