Where should a newbie start?

15 replies
Hey guys!

Im wondering if I am going to get flamed for this one?

As someone totally new to IM, I am wondering where the best blast to start is?

As far as making money online I am going to try and diversify my revenue streams:

1) Affiliate Marketing
2) Niche site creation (Selling my own product)
3) Niche site creation (Selling other peoples sites)
4) Monitization of a couple websites I already own.

Would you guys say I am missing any sources? or maybe I should remove some?

I guess the main question here is..... where do you start to learn the basics? Right not I am cruising WF and trying to get ideas.

Any advise?

Dan

    Hey Dan, my advice would be start with trying to monetize your own sites. This can be done a number of ways, but one thing you should be doing for sure (if you're not already) is building your email list of interested people.

    I took way too long to start doing this and once I did, I started to get initial sales by recommending affiliate products to my list (only products that I used myself and thought my list would appreciate of course).

    Another good method to get in quickly would be to create your own product and publish it as a WSO here. I have two so far and it's been an incredible community and reputation builder for me.

    I could go on an on...but I'll stop for now....wife's birthday and I NEED to get offline

      Currently I am doing affilate marketing and have made a little bit doing that. I am currently trying to ramp up my exposure for the coming Christmas season.

      What kind of products do you sell online? I used to sell products online but found that as soon as I found a product that I could make a good profit on it seems like all the other retailers cut their prices below mine and the profit would soon decrease or dissappear. Best month I had I pulled in about $1000 in profit, but found with the work required it wasn't worth it. If you are in a niche market you could pull it off.

    To be fair you can incorporate all of these things and probably will as time goes by. You will need to concentrate and focus on one thing at a time so yeah, Monitization is a great place to start. Then traffic to the site, list building then building up your niche affiliate products.

    Welcome to the forum:

    Here is a thread with lots of valuable information for a newbie:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-you-help.html

    Search this forum for the terms "newbie" and "noob" to get more newbie advice.

    My advice:
    Don't spend any money on any programs promising you to make a lot of money easily or quickly.

    Don't spend any money on any training at all for now until you learn so much more here.

    The only money to spend other than for your own domain, hosting and autoresponder is
    to join the War Room right now. It is a one time lifetime fee and is way worth it. Lot's of free training there.

    Lots of free ebooks in the Make Money forum here:
    http://www.warriorforum.com/make-money-online/

    Regard this as a business because that is what it is. There is no fast way, there is faster ways to leverage your time but it will take time.

    Read, read, read and then read some more.

    Focus on one method to start with and when it is growing and making money, diversify.

    Regardless of what other way you do it, build a list.

    A list is something that you own as your business asset regardless of changes in programs and Google and things that are beyond your control.

    Once you have a list, you can promote other offers, affiliate offers or your own products to them. Just give lots of free valuble information and real service to your list.

    Glad you are here and Good luck.

    I also agree with all of the above. But I think ZaphodBeebleBrox summed it up pretty nicely. Affiliate marketing is OK but you will not build a list and/or any reputation or credibility doing that, creating your own product is the only way to put yourself out there and WSO is a good place to start.

    Based from my experience, before doing all the internet marketing stuffs first you should pick a good mentor a known and reputable one that will teach you the effective ways on how to do internet marketing. Doing this will help you improve your skills and knowledge to make your own brand or product.

    When i was at your spot, i met a guy who made $100 a day and i was like 'wow'!!!

    All he told me was 'read and take action', however he didn't mention 'what and where'.

    5 years on, i broke his daily earning record, thats all i can say .

    Read blogs about the niche you are interested in, build your own ideas and nurture them.

    Remember, if you aren't creative, you aint gonna survive in the IM world.

    I would say Niche site creation with AdSense/Amazon would be the best go for a beginner. Find 20 different nich products in Amazon, do a keyword search on each determiting which keyword has highest searches VS lowest competition. Write 5-10 articles about your product + a review of your product and bamm.. CA-HING

    I just responded to 2 other people on a thread here who have been doing niche sites with adsense and Amazon products, ne for 9 months and 1 for a year and they have not made any money.

    I know that some people make money doing this, but without a ton of traffic and really good keyword research and really good SEO, I don't think it is profitable.

    I would not advice a newbie to start there. Just my opinion based on other posts I've read.

    I would recommend you observe what the successful people are doing. First you have to decide on a niche and some products to market. Once you have decided those things, see what the competition is doing. You can try to emulate what they do but the best from of learning is self experience. Get out there and do some stuff. Your best teacher will be trial and error.

    Dan, choose ONE thing, and keep doing it until you're making money. Please focus on your one thing. The very worst thing you can do is to keep chopping and changing.

    What do you most want to do?

    From your list, I'd say that you'll learn the most, and make the most money, if you choose # 2. That's me, however. You know what you like doing, and how your skills fit in.

    Re "learning the basics."

    Create a plan. You don't need to know everything. Indeed, some things aren't worth learning at all, considering the talent you can buy on fiverr.com for next to nothing.

    Your plan can be very simple (if you choose # 2):

    * Get idea for product

    * Research others' products (don't take too long over this)

    * Write sales page for product (write the sales page BEFORE you create the product)

    * Create product

    * Create WSO for product, or create small site on weebly.com

    * SELL!

    * Create new product for the same market as your first product (use your first product as an upsell)

    * Etc.

    Good luck! :-)
