A motivational e-book. Would you buy it?

I myself am an article writer, and I was just thinking how awesome it would be to write a motivational e-Book.

I was wondering if anyone here personally would buy a motivational e-Book, something that pushes you to keep attempting to thrive in the world of internet marketing.

If so, how much would you pay for one?

Cheers!

    Depends who the person was.

If it was someone who'd had no real success, and was just 'making it up' - probably want it for free.

However, if it was from a known guru who'd been through it all - $10.

Also, age would be a factor for me. I don't think someone in their 20's could justify trying to give that level of advice to others. To me, the ability to motivate others uses more than business experience, but draws from all aspects of life experience also.

That's why Dale Carnegie did so well, he was 48 when he wrote HTWFAIP - and much of his inspirational tone was derived using examples from his half-century on the planet.

    Hope this helps,
    Jim.

I definitely see your point Jim. I moreover meant from someone who hasn't had a large "volume of success", but rather someone who is just trying to motivate others to keep going. Reasons why success will come if you keep working hard, that sort of thing!

I think the carrot to buy a motivational book is to be able to look on 'enviously' at the success of the author. If the author hasn't had any great life successes then it's going to be a tough sell. I think age is mostly irrelevant, it's the success you've had that counts. I mean, people in their 20's have survived cancer and have wanted to share their experiences with others in a motivational light. But to try to motivate others in IM when perhaps you don't have a string of successes under your belt might be a tough sell.
Or maybe you do have a string of successes?? - My bad for jumping to conclusions

I think if you added a bit more value e.g interviewing some 'guru' (probably a number); doing some research on some others who have achieved success in spite of hard times and then add your voice to it all, it will do quite well. $10 as a WSO much more outside. And yes, I definitely would buy that and if it had PLR right, I'd probably spend much more than that.

Well, Tony Robbins was around 24 when his career took off (I do believe). But I agree with Jim that experience speaks a lot to people. If you created a reputation for being a good source of information for motivational content....so maybe posting around to provide positive advice to people or creating a blog that centered around your theme.......you would probably have a better chance of making more sales.

Good luck with your plans! =]

You could try putting it on Kindle first and see what kind of response you get before trying wider release (or kindle sales may prove sufficient by themselves)

To do some research into pricing, cover design search in kindle books and see what other people are selling in the same genre. It will give you a good range for your pricing and you can probably price yourself somewhere mid way. Rank the books by popularity and try and understand what differentiates a best selling book in the motivation / personal development niche from ones further down the list.

Might be good if you had a "taking over the world" blog.

I'm sure you're followers would buy it.

I wouldn't buy it if I landed on a squeeze page, but maybe if I followed the great stories in your blog.

If you do not have lots of real world success then definitely not (there are tons of self made millionaires with self help books, and I'd be more likely to hear what somebody who has actually been successful might have to say).

Still, there are so many free self help books that I wouldn't recommend it, it's a very competitive niche.

My answer is a strong NO, but only because I don't like reading e-books, I prefer physical books so if there were a printed version of the e-book I might consider buying it.

No, I don't go in for motivational reading. I prefer informational ebooks.

I'm also one of those who isn't really in the market - just not my thing. However just like any other interest that I have, I'd want to buy from someone who is a big name in the market and has the experience to be able to write something that I could learn from.

Make it into a rap song and I might buy it. E-book though... maybe if it were on Amazon market place and got 400 5 star reviews and was under 3 dollars.
