Long or Short WSO Threads?

Which do you like better?

WSO threads that go into a lot of detail and are super long.

Or WSO threads that are really short, to the point, and just share the benefits and features of what they are all about.

I bet this will split fairly down the middle, but as a copy writer, we must talk to both potential audiences or sell our offers short.

So in that light, it would probably always be more wise to setup the page with the benefits + features right at the top, pretty much directly giving those who want to know what it's all about right away what they want. And then adding more onto it to feed those whom want to know more.

Who can't guess the outcome of this one?

"Short and sweet...", "Keep it simple and to the point...", etc.

As you read the responses to this thread - never forget:

What people say is frequently very different from what they do.

We all tend to remember sales letters and videos that bug the crap out of us - but quickly forget about the ones that make us pull out our wallets.

Forget about the length of your copy. Short copy that sucks isn't helped by being short. Long copy that sucks never gets read, so the length is irrelevant.

Focus on how well your copy connects with the deeply held desires and dominant emotions of your ideal prospect.

Length is the least common denominator in the effectiveness of your copy.

most of my wso threads are really short and convert very high, they usually consist of a headline a short 5 minute video and about 100 additional words of text and that's it. I have sold over 3,500 copies of my products through wso's and usually convert around 8%

Give your visitors as much as they need. If your text's will keep them interested than there is no maximum length of the salespage.

I'd be more worried that 1000s of words will make them bored and they'll stop reading.

I try to be "to the point".

It's important to remember those who are viewing the WSO forum are doing so for a reason. They are a pre-qualified audience. You don't need to oversell things or 'warm them up' like you would elsewhere. Tell em what you got, what it does, and how much it costs. Nothing more, nothing less.

As for the more you tell the more you sell I don't necessarily agree with that. You can definitely oversell things and I see it done all the time. The correct length of copy is that which allows you to get all important information across to the reader. Anything more is overkill and will only serve to weaken your message.
