How to tell what traffic to buy

I've been looking at some traffic companies. What they do is sell you say 10,000 hits for 50 or 60 bucks. How can you tell if this traffic will be of good quality and in fact is real traffic?

Does anyone have any suggestions in what to look for when considering purchasing traffic for our websites?

If they're still trying to sell "hits", keep your money in your pocket, your hand on your money, and keep walking. Most of these schemes are aimed at naive newbies who don't understand what a 'hit' is, and just want to see the traffic meter spin.

At these prices, you're likely to get either junk traffic from a popunder service or other gimmick or traffic from a bot. Either way, it's usually a waste of time and money.

I wouldn't say that those types of traffic schemes are the best. You can never really tell what type of traffic you're really going to get and how targeted it's going to be.

Most of the time you're buying computerized hits from irrelevant sources or sometimes visitors that are being directed to your website against their will.
You're not likely going to have a very high conversion rate with this type of traffic.

In order to look at these types of schemes, you need to be sure that you know how the traffic will be generated.

You're probably a lot better off doing ad swaps, PPC or generating your own traffic.

Don't ever think of buying traffic. Always "invest" in SEO or social media (Facrbook).

Don't buy traffic. Because you will never know the quality of your traffic. If it's bot, you don't know that. BTW, buying traffic in adf.ly is cheaper.

Don't buy traffic unless You know how would You like to use it.

For example as the guys in the thread wrote before me: do not buy such traffic for conversions. It is most likely junk. They won't even click on adsense ads, plus they will spend a very small amount of time on your site and sometimes also increase your bounce rate. (Which isn't a good idea if You use Google Analytics since it may affect your ranking).

On the other hand if You would take the BH way and You would like to fake the amount of real traffic that Your site gets to increase the value of the ad space for example, then it might work. But as I said. This is BH and You should ask Yourself: Is this ethical? Or You might say: ..ck I want to make money no matter what! The choice is yours!

Hey thanks for the feedback guys.

What's happening here is I own a social network for bloggers and I want to improve their traffic by getting more people to visit my site. I have a site where tons of bloggers submit their article and we link back to their sites. Now I have tons of bloggers but what I'm trying to do is find more blog readers and average internet users that might stick around and engage with our blogging members.

Could buying good quality traffic potentially do this? Could buying traffic also increase my members traffic? If not what are some of your suggestions to gain more blog readers?

In that case, try a PR (like from PRweb). It'll give you SEO + hits.

Most of such schemes are to attract newbies. So do not get carried away by the promises these companies do to increase your traffic.

Stay away from offers like that... I don't believe in "hits"... I would rather invest that money in SEO, buying links or similar services... also, I would rather buy a few PPC clicks with that money... there is so many ways how you can invest that money to get long term results... avoid buying traffic on deals like that...

On the other hand, you can buy 10,000 hits on Fiverr for $5 ... if you really want to get 10,000 hits... (that was sarcastic, not a real advice )

Do SEO instead of buying traffic but if you really want to buy, make sure they sell unique hits and not just page visits and also don't fall for cheap offers as they are scam most of the time.

Sounds like you may be buying a whole lot of nothing. The traffic may not even be targeted or genuine...save your money and invest into more sure and proven methods like paid ads or seo.

    Hi,

I've tried the 'buy this traffic here' offers and unfortunately it appears to be a double whammy - 1) less 'hits' than promised and, 2) lack of click through. Unfortunately, it only tends to 'hit' your limited money supply. Proper SEO is far more valuable!

    cheers, Patrick
