Whatever Happened To All The EXE. eBook Files

Long ago before the arrival of ereaders, Kindle and Kin, eBooks were widely
available online and usually included resell rights or master resell rights.
These eBooks were available either as Exe or PDF files.

I am curious to learn whatever happened to all the Exe ebook files with the
arrival of Kindle and ereader publishing. Did the Exe ebooks simply become
obsolete, redundant, or discarded as writers, authors, publishers, marketers,
and entrepreneurs, moved across to new found publishing formats.

Is it at all possible to transform the once popular Exe ebook files to meet with
todays demands for Kindle and Kin. I find it hard to believe that such a wealth
of informative how-to ebooks and manuals have simply been discarded.

I feel that many of the once popular Exe ebooks were of a higher standard than
the PLR ebooks of today.

Yes . . . indeed I can recognise what you say.

What I want to know is what has happened to all the Exe
ebook files. Have they been destroyed, never to be seen again.

I wonder if these "dead" Exe ebook files can be restored and
converted to Kindle and Kin formats with any available software
      converter.

Otherwise I fear we haved witnessed a dramatic loss of much
      excellent material.
