Hi, I'm Michael. I'm seeking for advice on how to get traffic to build your list. I created a squeeze page for opt in webform and giving out free ebooks. Sent out solo ads / ppc etc. But the result wasn't good, should change the free gift and the way of ads?

What is your niche and capture page link? We can talk about what you could maybe adjust to get better results. Other ways of driving traffic is blogs, articles, press releases, harvesting software, classified ads, ect...

Yes, you need to join the War Room. which is the only thing I recommend that newbies buy right away. Lots of super valuable free stuff in there.

It is well worth the one time lifetime fee. Click on the War Room in the lower right hand corner to pay the fee.

You should make your free ebook/report that targets the main problem of your prospects. If it already does, maybe not enough people have that problem, so you should change to solve a problem that more people have.

Test as many different sources of traffic as you can. Most traffic won't work, some will, and all it takes is one good stream of traffic to be successful. Always be testing.

Also, don't change anything until you get enough traffic to tell you if it works or not the way it is.

The Long Term way to get traffic (which can take long term time) is word of mouth, blogging, SEO, and other folks linking to you in your blog.

The shortest best way to get traffic, is paid traffic, which is also great to test your niche.

I see you are already doing PPC/solo ad's, now you just need to optimize those campaigns.

You are saying you are getting no traffic, that probably means people are not click through your AD's, have you looked at your click through rate on those campaigns?

Which PPC providers are you using? I find Yahoo/Bing to have less traffic than Google, but better conversions (people opt-in).

My feeling is that bing/yahoo users have less blindness to ad's than suaver google users.

      The providers I recommend are:

      Google Adwords Search & Content
      Bing/Yahoo
Facebook (link to your fan page for more conversions)
And any website provider in your niche, if your niche is dating, plenty of fish is good for those types of ads.

Optimize your PPC campaign for more click through rates, and your advertisers will send more traffic to your campaign.

They get paid everytime someone clicks on your ad, so if you have a CTR of 1%, they'd make a lot of money by sending a lot of folks to you.

You don't need to be the highest bidder to get the most CTR or exposure, you just need compelling ad copy.

Your offer is important yes, but as mentioned before, get enough traffic to see what your opt-in rate is for a user who lands on your page.

If you are using aweber, you can see the % of opt in per unique user, and once you have 200 or so unique users visit your opt-in page, look at your results.

If your opt-in % is less than 10%, I'd say to change up your opt-in page, buttons, and your offer. Make sure you target your potential customers short term NEEDS/WANTS.

Don't target what you think your user wants. Target what they are looking for and teach them what they really need to do know they buy.

For example, people who want a 6 pack of tight ripped abs, they want a quick solution to get them.

You can give them exercises they could use right now to build their 6 pack abs.

In your product you would teach them what to eat, when to eat, how to eat, and what work outs they need to get those 6 pack abs.

Most internet techniques can be applied to most online business but the important thing is how to apply them. You have to research your niche thoroughly and target places where your customers are, where they are looking for what you are offering.

    Mike3e,

As far as I understand, you'd like to drive traffic to your blog and capture the leads from there, right? Or is it just traffic you care about?

If it is just traffic, I'd recommend that you think about list building at the same time and put an aweber or getresponse form on your site. If you are cost conscious, I recommend getresponse, because it is free up to 1000 contacts.

Now, about traffic. Your blog is a niche blog, and I presume it is a viable niche, by which I mean at least 100 searches per month in Google Adwords Tool for long tail keywords. If so, there are people who DO look for the information you provide, now you only have to show them where to go.

Here are a few FREE ways to drive targetted traffic to your offers:

    1. Article marketing - ezinearticles.com is a perfect place to start. However, your articles must be unique. They must not be PLR articles unless you rewrite them substantially. What you end each article with is your resource box and you can put your links there; like in the forum signature. Remember - no affiliate links of any kind, just YOUR links.

    2. Forums/discussion groups - join the ones that go along your niche and try to provide valuable answers and advice to people asking questions. Put the link to your blog in your signature.

    3. Yahoo answers - the same as above, you answer the question, you provide the link.

    4. Now, a place and technique that you may not have heard of before: slideshare.com (I hope you'll get the idea what to do with your articles once you visit the place).

    5. Web 2.0 estates like squidoo, condio, hub pages, and many many more. Treat them like blogging/article submission spaces. Keep your content original, include the links in the content or in the summary.

    6. Safelists - by sending e-mails to other members with direct link to your site.

    7. Paid traffic, but only if you have the list building element in your blog. Otherwise your money and efforts will be lost. There are great sources of paid traffic that can expand your list in days, but since I don't know if you have a squeeze page or a registration form on your blog, I'm not discussing them here.

Ideally, in my opinion, you should put out a squeeze page (offering some great free content for people to sign in) and direct ALL the traffic you get from the above methods to this squeeze page and then to your blog/website, especially if you have any affiliate offers there.

So the flow should be like this:

Traffic source (any of 1-7) ==> Squeeze page ==> Your site.

Now, you are not only getting traffic but also building a list, and you know that people on your list are those interested in the topic, so you are free to send them related offers.

Sounds easy, takes some time, brings absolutely stunning results if done correctly.

    Enjoy and profit!
